Position Overview:
Maxio is looking for a Design Engineer to join our Product Design team and help bridge the gap between design and development ensuring our products are functional cohesive and usercentered. Whether youre a frontend engineer with a strong design sensibility or a technically adept product designer you thrive in the front of the frontend space.
In this role youll collaborate closely with designers engineers and crossfunctional teams to develop maintain and evolve Maxios design system. Your work will empower product teams to build with consistency efficiency and craftenabling delightful highquality experiences across our platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Development and Maintenance:
- Design reusable components and patterns that align with Maxios design principles.
- Conduct usability testing and prototype components to ensure they meet both user needs and technical requirements.
- Develop maintain and evolve our design system code repositories and shared Figma libraries.
- Create clear comprehensive documentation to support adoption across diverse teams.
- Collaboration and Enablement:
- Partner with product designers engineers and crossfunctional stakeholders to ensure the design system integrates seamlessly into product development workflows.
- Facilitate a contribution culture by mentoring teams on how to leverage and contribute to the design system.
- Act as the bridge between design and engineering enabling teams to deliver consistent and highquality user experiences.
- Continuously research and identify opportunities to improve design and engineering processes through automation tools and emerging technologies.
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Contribute to the longterm vision and roadmap of the design system aligning it with organizational goals.
- Champion accessibility and inclusivity across all design system efforts ensuring compliance with WCAG and other standards.
- Mentor team members and advocate for best practices in design and engineering.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in product design or frontend engineering preferably within a SaaS environment.
- Proven experience building and maintaining design systems.
- Expertise in frontend technologies (HTML CSS and React) and tools such as Figma and Storybook.
Technical Skills:
- Strong skills in visual design interaction design and prototyping demonstrated through a portfolio of work spanning desktop and mobile surfaces.
- Familiarity with design tokens APIbased design systems or other advanced system architectures.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with a track record of partnering with design engineering and product teams.
- Strong organizational skills and a love for documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Passion for mentoring and educating teams on leveraging design systems to improve workflow efficiency and consistency.
- Experience with automation tools and emerging technologies that improve design and engineering processes.
