Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Data Engineer to join our growing team and help us build the future of data. You will play a key role in building and optimizing our data infrastructure. You will work with large datasets design and implement data pipelines and ensure that our data solutions are scalable efficient and aligned with business goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Requirements:
- Handson experience deploying finetuning and integrating AI models (e.g. transformers embeddings) into data platforms (nice to have)
- Knowledge of LangChain and or other frameworks (nice to have)
- Experience implementing AI agents for data collection and process automation (nice to have)
- Experience in retrievalaugmented generation (RAG) workflows(nice to have)
- Understanding of cloud services with a focus on data storage compute and AI/ML integrations
- Familiarity with infrastructureascode (e.g. Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines for managing deployments
- Leadership:
- Demonstrated ability to act as a tech lead guiding the design development and implementation of data solutions while ensuring alignment with best practices 1Digit and its clients objectives
- Skilled in mentoring and supporting team members fostering a culture of collaboration innovation and continuous improvement
- Strong technical decisionmaking abilities prioritisation of tasks and managing resources to meet project deadlines
- Collaboration Across Teams:
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships with product technology and business stakeholders actively listening to understand their needs and challenges and adjusting approach and thinking accordingly
Reference Number for this position is GZ60242 which is a 12 months contract renewable 100 Remote position (company based in Port Elizabeth) offering a cost to company salary of R1000k per annum negotiable on experience and ability.
