Job Description

The speech language pathologist will conduct evaluations and provide direct services to students with mild/moderate/severe disabilities in a prekindergarten setting.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducts thorough assessments of speech and language skills utilizing standardized evaluations and informal assessments to establish eligibility for services and inform goals and service delivery
  • Utilizes data to develop attainable strengthsbased SMART goals for improving functional communication skills
  • Provides direct services utilizing researchbased treatment methods to improve students functional communication skills as outlined in the students Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Records data and reports progress at least as often as report cards are provided
  • Attends and participates in IEP meetings
  • Collaborates with other related service providers to conduct cotreatment sessions when deemed appropriate
  • Consults with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to implement communication strategies throughout the school day
  • Participates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure
  • Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program
  • Valid Speech Language Pathology License through the Board of SpeechLanguage Pathology and Audiology Division of Professional Licensure Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Valid Speech and Hearing Disabilities (All Levels) License through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Certification by the American SpeechLanguageHearing Association (ASHA) preferred
  • Strong Clinical Fellow (CF) candidates considered
  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with low mid and hightech augmentative/alternative communication strategies
  • Experience with behavior management/deescalation strategies
  • Reports To:

  • Building principal and Special Education team administration
  • Director of Special Education & Special Education Coordinator
