The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (DOR) has an exciting opportunity available for a detailoriented individual as a Tax Examiner 1. Within this role you will be responsible for the examination and processing of individual tax returns to ensure conformance to state tax laws and regulations. Your training will provide you with a comprehensive working knowledge of the Commonwealths tax laws rules and regulations. Join us in our mission to administer Pennsylvania tax programs fairly efficiently and accurately for the citizens of the Commonwealth.
In this role you will learn to examine process and adjust individual tax returns review legal tax documents and internal and external resource materials included with submitted returns. If necessary you will prepare and send documentation to consumers requesting additional information necessary to process returns. After examining and verifying returns for accuracy you will be responsible for initiating transfer transactions of returns and payments to make corrections when errors are identified in the initial processing. Communication will be key as you will respond verbally and in writing to inquiries received from internal and external stakeholders that inquire about the status of returns or require an explanation of discrepancies or adjustments.
