You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailJOB SUMMARY: Fills assigned positions and provides coverage for absent food service staff in the positions listed below. Assists the Food Service Manager with food ordering/purchasing and recordkeeping. Coordinates catered events for the agency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs substitute responsibilities for the following positions according to each respective job description:
a. Prep Cook
b. Food Service Aide
c. Kitchen Aide
2. Maintains safe and sanitary procedures according to program standards and policies in all areas of food preparation and cleanup.
3. Cleans washes and prepares food service equipment and home delivered meal carriers as required.
4. Receives bulk food and utilizes proper food handling techniques to hold portion and serve food for meals.
b. Ensures temperature control of food by maintaining proper temperatures according to program standards.
c. Records temperatures and portions of food and beverages.
d. Operates steam table and oven/stove top.
e. Packages the specified portions of hot and cold foods for home delivered meals.
f. Prepares milk orders for routes.
g. Follows additional instructions from the Central Kitchen and management.
5. Prepares and serves according to consistency and/or portion modifications as required under the direction of the Registered Dietitian and/or Speech Therapist.
6. Prepares and serves any menu substitutions in accordance with dietary orders.
7. Operates commercial dishwasher to clean all service ware and pans.
8. Directs volunteers in food safety and sanitation regulations in the serving of foods and in cleaning up the kitchen.
9. Keeps work units and equipment clean including surfaces and cleanable parts.
10. Assists in maintaining cleanliness of dining area. Maintains and orders inventory of janitorialsupplies linen supplies service ware for home delivered and onsite meals and other mealservice supplies.
11. Informs supervisor of any problems encountered in meal delivery food service and related areas.
12. Completes all required documentation.
13. Maintains and tracks the inventory of food and food service supplies.
14. Participates in training and other meetings as requested.
15. Participates in the process of teaching training and mentoring student interns and volunteers working within the program area.
16. Pivots between programs and/or travel between various satellite sites to provide support.
17. Provides support to Nutrition and Activities Redwood Coast PACE and Adult Day Health program staff as assigned.
18. Travels between locations to provide coverage as needed.
19. Acts in a manner consistent with agency values.
EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Two 2 years of experience in food handling food service and kitchen sanitation required.
3. Experience in largebatch quantity food production and/or texture modification preferred.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
1. Food Handlers certification required (ServSafe or National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or other approved certification).
2. Current CPR and First Aid certification within six 6 months of hire.
3. Valid California Drivers License and personal auto liability insurance required. Must have a personal vehicle in good driving/operating condition insured for State minimum liability requirements and that can be used for the applicable job functions noted above.
PRESCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Requires clearance of a DOJ and FBI criminal history background check
2. Requires Motor Vehicle Report verification.
3. COVID19 and Influenza (flu) vaccines preferred.
JOB SKILLS:
1. Knowledge of and ability to handle and prepare food in accordance with high quality food preparation sanitation and safety standards including public health food handling and food safety standards.
2. Ability to follow prepared menus and recipes add subtract divide and multiply make close estimates of quantity of food required and to use portion control as well as make weight and measure conversions such as teaspoons to tablespoons cups to pints ounces to pounds etc.
3. Ability to use Outlook calendar and send and check emails. Must be able to use Microsoft Word Excel and have basic computer knowledge to use save and navigate files on a computer. Basic knowledge webbased applications such as timekeeping training and email programs.
4. Ability to read write and speak English. Ability to write and follow oral and written instructions and to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
5. Ability to multitask and make independent judgement to solve issues quickly and efficiently in a busy kitchen setting.
6. Demonstrates effective social interactions with others.
a. Ability to relate to and communicate with the elderly and frail population.
b. Excellent interpersonal interactions that result in team building and contribute to effective work relationships.
c. Ability to secure cooperation of volunteers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Physical abilities sufficient to move between different staff work areas lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds twisting and turning communicate with employees and the public operate a computer produce reports drive between sites and talk on the telephone.
