Job Description

Controller

National Headquarters Memphis TN

Ducks Unlimited Inc. (DU) is seeking a Controller to plan and direct the organizations accounting functions. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officerthe Controller is responsible for all aspects of the accounting operations of the organization and its affiliates including financial reporting maintenance of accounting records process improvements ensuring adequate compliance and internal controls and the supervision and development of accounting employees working in the areas of accounts payable accounts receivable expense reimbursements fixed assets general ledger and financial statements. This position is located at DUs national headquarters in Memphis TN.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Oversees all accounting operations including billing A/R A/P GL and Revenue Recognition.
  • Responsible for timely monthly quarterly and annual closing procedures.
  • Maintain quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Participate and lead the annual yearend audit process with external auditors.
  • Files quarterly and annual reports with all relevant government agencies.
  • Coordinates financial relationships with DUs international partner organizations: Ducks UnlimitedCanada and Ducks Unlimited de Mexico.
  • Ensures compliance with local state and federal government requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversees the operations of the accountancy staff which include treasury staff accounts payable accounts receivable and purchasing.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Microsoft Excel and database/data warehousing.


Education and Experience:

  • A bachelors degree in accounting or business administration is required.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant designation required.
  • Ten years or more of related experience is required. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit is preferred.
  • Experience in a Microsoft Dynamics accounting system environment is beneficial.
  • Up to 10 travel is required.
