Job description

DESCRIPTION
DeustoTech Deusto Institute of Technology is the technological research center of the University of Deusto located on the Bilbao campus whose mission is to promote research training and knowledge transfer at the service of society and industry. We are looking for a researcher with proven experience in the area of Artificial Intelligence to join a European research project in the field of food waste collaborating with prestigious partners and contributing significantly to scientific progress in this area.
The main objective of this research position is to make progress in the knowledge about the food waste problem by means of the development of datadriven models in order to identify behavioral patterns analyze causes and evaluate the efficiency of food loss and waste prevention strategies in terms of sustainability.
TASKS
Data analytics for the diagnosis of food waste generation patterns
Design and development of models based on machine learning and system dynamics for the analysis of the impact of food waste prevention strategies
Leading data collection and model design by coordinating multidisciplinary and
international work teams
Publishing in high impact journals (WoS and SJR) along with group members
Working in competitive projects (Basque Government Spanish Government Horizon
Europe)
Submitting competitive research proposals.
Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
Provide support to the research team in the drafting of technical dissemination and
administrative reports on the TONOWASTE project.

Fulltime incorporation in the first quarter of 2025 with economic conditions
commensurate with the experience and knowledge provided by the candidates. The

REQUIREMENTS
PhD in fields related to Artificial Intelligence Engineering or Mathematics of
application in the field of both human and sustainability problems.
Demonstrable experience in research projects.
Advanced programming skills (Python R C etc..
Familiarity with European public funding programs for R&D projects.
Proven experience providing support to obtain competitive funding for research as
well as a track record in technology transfer initiatives.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and flexibility to adapt to different
strategies.
Willingness to travel and collaborate with different entities and projects.
High level of written and spoken English.
