Job Description
The Forklift Operator will be responsible for safely moving products around the banding area and staging for the loading team. Additionally the person in this role will occasionally assist the banding team with banding together completed orders in preparation for shipment. Lastly the operator needs to have knowledge of weight distribution and effectively load products onto trucks in preparation for delivery. The operator is also responsible for creating load maps and taking pictures of finished loads prior to transport.
We are looking for a Warehouse Forklift Operator/Bander on our Second Shift at our Zeeland MI warehouse.
Schedule: MF 2:30 p.m. 11 p.m.
Pay: $19.50/hr.
Essential Responsibilities
- Operate a Forklift to move products and pallets safely throughout warehouse
- Ensure orders are accurate and communicate any discrepancies product issues or safety issues with Supervisor
- Stage and place orders on trailer to best utilize space and maintain proper weight distribution throughout trailer for drivers to deliver product
- Ensures company documentation of loading trailer is accurate and complete
- Secures or assists in securing the loads onto the trailers and the closing of the
curtains. - Successfully passes all Novo forklift training and operate a forklift following all safety requirements established within Novo
- May assist in keeping floors clean and dry with use of floor scrubber
- Perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications (Required)
- Effectively perform all essential functions including physical requirements
- Ability to move awkward product lengths and weights
- Experience with operating a forklift with a rate rating of 6500 pounds
- Use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and companyapproved tools while remaining aware of hazards and maintaining a safe work environment
- Basic math interpersonal/team and reasoning skills
- Ability to read understand and carry out written procedures and standard work instructions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Flexibility in scheduling able to work overtime as needed
- Use of proper PPE and companyapproved tools while remaining aware of hazards and maintaining a safe work environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in distribution or manufacturing environment
- Experience with flatbeds curtain sides and Conestogas
- Minimum one year of experience operating a forklift
- High School Diploma or GED
Physical Requirements
- Able to withstand exposure to seasonal weather elements and wood dust
- 100: Stand handle or feel squeeze or grasp
- 80: Reaching with hands and arms depth perception
- 50: Walk repetitive motion operate moving equipment
- 10: Working bent at waist stoop kneel crouch bending or twisting
- Lift push or pull up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Lift push or pull 75100 lbs. with assistance.
