Job Description

Position Summary

Big Bend Community College (BBCC) is seeking qualified individuals for Associate (parttime) Faculty positions in our Nursing program. This position is responsible to instruct Level I and Level II nursing students in the colleges Associate Degree in Nursing Program. The individual in this position will provide clinical instruction to students caring for clients across the healthcare spectrum

Essential Job Duties

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Possess current clinical knowledge and skills to insure the safety of clients students and instructors.
  • Conduct effective instruction focusing on application of theoretical knowledge to clinical application.
  • Rolemodel professional integrity critical thinking caring and ethical behaviors.
  • Assign appropriate practicum experiences for each student.
  • Assist students in meeting clinical objectives making necessary modifications.
  • Complete weekly evaluation forms in relation to student clinical experiences.
  • Advise and counsel students regarding their progress.
  • Maintain current student records and regular office hours.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with assigned agency staff members.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of the Nursing Program curriculum.
  • Keep abreast of current professional trends.
  • Maintain compliance with nursing faculty health requirements as designated by BBCC Nursing Program policies (current Healthcare provider card immunizations and HIV education).
  • Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the college.

Minimum & Desirable Qualifications

At the time of application the candidate must possess the following:

  • A minimum of a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and from a nursing education program that is accredited by a nursing education accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and from a nursing education program that is accredited by a nursing education accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education may be considered.
  • Must have a current unencumbered professional license as a Registered Nurse in Washington State.
  • Evidence of current clinical skills in nursing particularly in geriatrics and medicalsurgical areas.
  • Meet Washington Vocational Certification Standards.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLEQUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experienced in computer applications for instructional purposes.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.

TEACHING DEMO:
Applicants selected for an interview may be required to give a short (approximately 15 minutes) teaching demonstration.

COMPENSATION:
Associate/PartTime Faculty receive quarterly contracts. Payment is based on $977.24/per lecture credit and may also include a combination of $1589.30/per lab credit/Nursing Clinical and/or $11224.96/per Nursing Campus Lab.

Associate/PartTime Faculty earn sick leave on a prorata basis on inclass hours based upon their percent of fulltime for all parttime faculty contracts with each academic quarter (fall through spring).

The college provides insurance and retirement benefits in accordance with the applicable statues and regulations governing Washington State employee benefits funded through the state and in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the College. The Human Resources Office shall communicate benefit eligibility to all Associate/PartTime faculty.


Retirement savings programs such as tax sheltered annuities deferred compensation and other savings programs are available for eligible employees who apply.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Pursuant to RCW 28B.112.080 applicants must declare whether they are the subject of any substantiated findings of sexual misconduct in any current or former employment or are currently being investigated for or have left a position during an investigation into a violation of any sexual misconduct policy at the applicants current or past employers. By law postsecondary education institutions cannot hire an applicant who does not complete the questions.
