This is a threeyear limitedterm faculty position to continue to expand expertise in older adult health in the Faculty of Health Community and Education. This position will focus on improving the lives of older adults and their caregivers through research collaboration and teaching. The successful candidate will collaborate with the current Chair in Older Adults Health and the Centre for Health and Innovation in Aging.
New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/ scholarship/ service pattern (TSS) focuses on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program and service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/ service pattern (TS) only focuses on teaching and service. The intention is for the successful candidate for this role to be hired into the teaching/ scholarship/service pattern (TSS).
RN with CARNA registration is considered an asset.
Related nonRN professionals/Researchers may be considered with appropriate expertise.
Masters degree required PhD/equivalent preferred.
Expertise in older adult health is required.
Expertise in program development is considered an asset.
Expertise in simulation is considered an asset.
A proven track record of funding/scholarship/research and publications in older adult health is an asset.
Partner with the Chair of the Centre for Health and Innovation in Aging
Lead and undertake research to understand the multifaceted aspects of aging and develop innovative technologybased solutions to enhance the quality of life for older adults.
Advocate for and inform policies that promote agefriendly communities including accessible housing transportation and healthcare services supporting aging in place.
Partner with educational programs in HCE to equip interdisciplinary professionals with the skills and knowledge to deliver comprehensive care and services to older adults.
Collaborate with community organizations government agencies industry and individuals 65 and above to implement initiatives to reduce ageism and foster intergenerational connections.
Liaise with MRU practicum and clinical coordinators to promote student placement in related areas.
Apply for funding research and publish in the areas of olderadult
Lead knowledge translation initiatives in the area of olderadult health research.
Contribute to developing a blueprint for vibrant aging leveraging research technology and partnerships to redefine aging as a journey ripe with exploration and fulfilment.
Explore Connections to Curriculum in HCE (and establish connections in other MRU Faculties).
Conduct and foster research in older adult health.
Create opportunities for knowledge generation translation and education.
Consult and collaborate with AgeCare to explore opportunities for research and knowledge mobilization related to the CHIA research agenda.
Enhance and develop further additional community connections.
Support the longterm sustainability of this position through ongoing research funding (external and internal funds especially TriCouncil funding).
Maintain membership on relevant SONM/HCE committees.
Hire and supervise student research assistants.
