Stanford Rebele Business Intelligence Analyst Intern Summer 2025

Hearst Newspapers is looking for an intern to join our Business Intelligence team. This is an ideal job for an individual who is looking to solve a variety of different business problems and to advance their applied analytics skills. Youll have the chance to interface with teams across the organization and understand the interplay of various facets of the business including newsrooms and marketing teams.

You will have access to a treasure trove of data and your goal will be to help the business understand how audience development drives outcomes for the business. Youll help to answer questions like Do TikTok followers views lead to business outcomes What platforms does our ideal audience interact with us on and How do our users engage and interact with our largescale datajournalism projects.

You will work directly with both technical and nontechnical users to translate business questions into data problems that our data can solve. That work will involve building adhoc reports and dashboards conducting exploratory analysis and modeling data to help solve business problems.

Working within the larger BI team you will be collaborating with other analysts data scientists and data engineers to understand how a business intelligence team functions in a media organization as you learn to hone your data skills.

Qualifications

  • You must be a currently enrolled Stanford University student to apply
  • Pursuing a degree in math engineering statistics econometrics data science or related quantitative field
  • Prior experience or internship with data analysis (as an analyst analytics business intelligence or similar)
  • Familiarity with SQL (BigQuery preferred)
  • Familiarity with Python for data analysis
  • Strong verbal and written communication especially when presenting to nontechnical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Develop reports and dashboards to help surface insights that answer
  • Improve decisionmaking by proactively providing data that helps resolve business problems and support strategic decisions.
  • Surface trends and conduct root cause analyses to uncover issues and opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary data/analytical resource in recurring stakeholder meetings.
  • Present reports findings and analyses to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Own the design development and maintenance of ongoing metrics reports dashboards and other data solutions.

In accordance with applicable law Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in California. The reasonable estimate is between $38883 and $38883. Please note this information is specific to those hired in San Francisco. A final decision on the successful candidates starting salary will be based on a number of permissible nondiscriminatory factors including but not limited to skills and experience training certifications and education.
