Job Description

Student and Campus Life (SCL) inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual academic and personal evolution. Our division is comprised of leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including public service health wellness social justice residential living food services sports recreation career services and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25000 undergraduate graduate and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Engagement and LandGrant Affairs advocates for Cornells role as the landgrant university for New York state and monitors and collaborates on responses to the governors initiatives in higher education and economic development. This Office is responsible for a broad range of relationships and academic programs and initiatives that further Cornells public engagement mission globally locally and across New York state where Cornell serves as the states landgrant university.

Based in Ithaca N.Y. the David M. Einhorn Center for Community Engagement builds service and communityengaged learning as a hallmark of the Cornell student experience by empowering students through campus and community collaborations to create a more just and equitable world. The center plays a key role supporting communityengaged learning and public service across the university. The result of the merging of the Public Service Center (PSC) and the Office of Engagement Initiatives (OEI) the center brings highimpact practices such as communityengaged learning and serviceoriented programs to students faculty and staff while increasing opportunities for partnerships in local national and global arenas.

Leveraging the existing strengths of Cornells public engagement agenda the David M. Einhorn Center for Community Engagement presents a new model and direction for higher education one in which communityengaged learning and service is deeply ingrained fully institutionalized and effectively taught and implemented. Through this center students graduating from Cornell will enter the world as educated global citizens who practice respect and empathy; seek collaboration cooperation and creativity; embrace differences and diversity in all aspects of their personal professional and civic lives; and are dedicated to working with others to help solve some of the worlds most intractable problems.

The Assistant Director for Engaged College Initiative & Faculty Development resides within the David M. Einhorn Center for Community Engagement reporting to the Senior Fellow. This role collaborates with the Einhorn Center staff and the Cornell faculty and staff/administrators to facilitate and expand communityengaged learning and research practices into educational efforts playing a pivotal role in the Einhorn Centers Engaged College Initiative to promote communityengaged learning and research within each of the Colleges education missions at Cornell. In addition the successful applicant will support the assessment and evaluation of the impact of communityengaged teaching and research for faculty students and partners including monitoring and development of reports to help inform strategic decisions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and at least 3 5 years of experience in curriculum development program management assessment data management and evaluation or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience and confidence working with diverse faculty and students at the higher education level

  • Capacity and experience supporting faculty development on highquality communityengaged learning and research skills data management and outcomes assessment

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner with a variety of constituents and capacity to inspire a diverse range of stakeholders to advance a mission

  • Demonstratedability to lead and manage teams to accomplish their goals

  • Excellent communication skills in oral written and presentation forms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or EdD degree

  • Graduate degree with 5 years minimum of experience in curriculum development program management and outcomes assessment.
