2025 Intern Programme Alltnacriche and Lendrick Muir

Drawing upon years of experience of working with children and young people in a variety of residential settings SU Scotland is delighted to launch its 2025 Intern Programme.

The aim of this programme is to provide you with a year of living and volunteering in an outdoor activity centre as a precursor to applying for our trainee instructor programme. We know that this is a big decision to make and so we want to give you a taste of whats involved.

Who is Scripture Union

Scripture Union Scotland is a national charity with around 100 staff and over 2000 volunteers. Our vision is to see every childand young person of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.

Our outdoor centres regularly host school groups participating in residential experiences youth groups enjoying weekend breaks and a variety of SU Holidays. We aim to enable our guests to enjoy the outdoors have fun explore the Christian faith develop new skills and work together with a focus on building good relationships.

What sort of things will I get up to as an intern

As an intern you will be part of our centre team and will be involved in all aspects of centre life. Here is a flavour of what you will be doing:

However wed also expect you to spend some of your personal time gaining experience in some of the activities that the centre offers. This might include: mountain biking canoeing bushcraft climbing or walking.

What will SU Scotland provide


SU Scotland will provide you with board and keep during your time as an intern. You will also have the opportunity to do some external training courses such as archery first aid and woodland leader training. There will also be a chance to join other SU Scotland training programmes such as Basecamp and throughout your time you will receive training and input from your supervisor. In addition you will receive an allowance for food and SU Scotland uniform.

Interviews will be held during Feb/March dependent upon availability and will involve staying and volunteering at one of our outdoor centres Alltnacriche or Lendrick Muir.

For this post it is important that you are committed to SU Scotlands ethos statement of faith and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is therefore an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act part 1 schedule 9 that an SU Scotland intern is a committed Christian.

The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
