Job Description

Department: Special Services

Accountable To: Director of Special Services

FLSA Status: Exempt

Creation/Revision Date:March 22 2021

Summary:

In general direction incumbent(s) facilitates and supports the BRIDGE Program the WESD Educator Preparatory Program. The incumbent(s) trains and supports classroom teachers in BRIDGE coursework onsite coaching and the implementation of quality core practices in the classroom. The incumbent will lead the planning and implementation of coursework directly related to the training of special education teachers as well as special education topics for all teachers in the BRIDGE Program.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates with BRIDGE coaches to plan overall program structure create/revise coursework and training structure(s).
  • Leads planning of coursework related to special education topics
  • Coordinates with BRIDGE coaches to facilitate the implementation of educational coursework schedule courses and delivery of specific training sessions.
  • Facilitates the implementation of special education coursework and delivery of the training sessions.
  • Observes collects and analyzes teacher and student classroom data to plan coaching conferences.
  • Assists with the development of protocols for grading observations and evaluations of BRIDGE students.
  • Assists participating teachers in developing a professional learning plan with identified focus areas for instructional management and planning practices.
  • Coaches teachers pertaining to BRIDGE coursework evidencedbased quality core instructional strategies classroom management and lesson design related to curricular instructional and assessment programs.
  • Models lessons whisper coaches conducts observations video tapes and implements other researched based coaching strategies to provide a rounded coaching model.
  • Communicate and collaborate with school leadership to align feedback on progress of teachers and ongoing support and expectations.
  • Coordinates with BRIDGE coaches district personnel site administration site instructional coaches and other pertinent staff in relation to the BRIDGE program and teacher progress.
  • Actively participates in professional development that is provided by the District and/or state level (ADE).
  • Collaboratively evaluates BRIDGE participants progress in coursework and classroom application.
  • Collaboratively evaluates the BRIDGE Program by monitoring program effectiveness.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Minimum of Five years of Special Education Teaching Experience
  • Minimum of Three Years Coaching and/or Supervising Teachers
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education Special Education Teacher Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Masters degree in Curriculum Leadership Education Administration Special Education or Related Field
  • Three years of Experience Observing and Providing Feedback to Teachers
  • Experienced at planning and delivering job embedded continuous systemic professional development
  • Experience in training and coaching beginning teachers

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Ability to breakdown standards and plan instruction
  • Model instruction in the classroom
  • Utilize a variety of coaching techniques such as video coaching whisper coaching etc.
  • Uses computer software related programs;
  • Engages and encourages communication skills while interacting with supervisors staff BRIDGE participants etc. to exchange information.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of District curricula assessment and instructional programs
