This role is perfect for a strong technical leader who can balance daytoday operational excellence team leadership and longterm strategic transformation. If you thrive on driving change while ensuring the stability and efficiency of big data platforms we want to hear from you.We are seeking a Senior Technical Manager to lead our data platform and operations team through a major transformation. This is a unique opportunity to drive the evolution of our largescale data infrastructure overseeing both daily operations and longterm strategic shifts. You will play a key role in transitioning away from legacy platforms modernizing our data ecosystem and optimizing Hadoop and Snowflake operations while managing and mentoring a team of experienced engineers.
What Youll Do:
- Lead and manage a team of senior data platform engineers providing mentorship performance management and career development.
- Oversee operational excellence in data platform management ensuring reliability scalability and costeffectiveness of Snowflake Kafka and onprem big data environments.
- Drive the strategic transition from Hadoop/HBase to a new data platform by defining roadmaps collaborating with leadership and guiding development teams through application migrations.
- Optimize and expand Snowflake usage across the organization ensuring best practices in cost management security performance tuning and governance.
- Partner with software engineering and data teams to align on new data architectures and migration strategies.
- Establish and enforce operational standards automation and monitoring to improve system reliability and efficiency.
- Advocate for and implement best practices in data governance security and compliance.
What You Bring:
- Proven experience managing and leading a technical team including hiring coaching and performance management.
- Strong expertise in Snowflake administration operations and optimization at enterprise scale.
- Deep understanding of distributed data architectures largescale data storage and data processing frameworks.
- Experience leading teams through major data platform transitions and application migrations.
- Ability to balance strategic vision with handson operational .
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills to drive change across engineering teams.
Bonus Points For:
- Experience leading teams through Hadoop/HBase decommissioning.
- Handson knowledge of Kafka Spark and enterprisescale data pipelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in managing and architecting infrastructure software components and/or data platform technologies.
- Previous experience in infrastructure design and support of Linux systems preferably with Hadoop and/or database technologies.
- 5 years of management experience including managing senior administrators developers and architects.
- Prior experience managing multipetabyte data environments in hybrid or onprem settings.
- Broad exposure to various computer concepts machine architecture and analysis and design approaches.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build consensus across organizational boundaries.
- Experience with Agile Software Development methodologies.
- Experience in operational management of enterprise production systems.
