Job Description

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

Lorain County Health & Dentistry (LCH&D) is a private nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to delivering the highest quality primary and preventive health care to underserved persons of all ages throughout Lorain County OH and beyond. Founded in 2002 LCH&D first operated as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) LookAlike until designated by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as a funded FQHC in early 2009.

The largest safetynet provider in Lorain County LCH&D operates six community health centers in Lorain Elyria Oberlin and North Ridgeville and provides adult/family medicine pediatrics general and specialty dentistry podiatry optometry pharmacy and integrated behavioral health including Medication for Opioid Use Disorder. A focused vision solid mission effective strategic planning excellent leadership and management teamwork and perseverance have enabled LCH&D to grow significantly over the years. As a result LCH&D is a wellknown and respected organization locally and at the state and federal levels.

Since its founding LCH&D has provided over one million doctor and dentist visits. In 2023 LCH&D treated 18575 Unduplicated Patients in 63222 medical and dental visits. Quality is highly valued at LCH&D and the health center is dedicated to providing the best clinical care and customer service possible. Today LCH&D places in the Top 10 for best overall clinical quality measure performance among all health centers nationwide. As such HRSA recently awarded LCH&D the coveted 2024 Health Center Quality Leader Gold Badge. LCH&D has more than 120 providers and staff and an $18 million annual operating budget. In addition to providing excellent clinical care the organization is well positioned both operationally and financially.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Human Resources Director is responsible for the daily provision of Human Resources services policies and programs for Lorain County Health & Dentistry. Reporting to and working closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) the Human Resources Director will manage the daytoday workflow processes and productivity of the department. Daily functions of the HR Department include but are not be limited to employee satisfaction and recognition compensation and benefits management performance management recruitment and retention and workforce development. Additionally working in support of the CHRO the Human Resources Director is tasked with ensuring Lorain County Health & Dentistry is compliant with all HR practices as well as all local state and federal laws and guidelines as it pertains to the employee experience.

The Human Resources Director is accountable to the organizations mission values and policies and ultimately must ensure that all employees and contractors have the information materials and support that is reasonably required to complete their essential job functions while continuously upholding the companys mission values and policies. The Human Resources Director is expected to be an effective fair and consistent leader and role model with thorough knowledge and understanding of company policy (including personnel policies) department procedures and excellent communication and leadership skills.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in Business Health Administration or related field with a concentration in HR is preferred.
  • Demonstrated HR experience and leadership in HR preferably in healthcare is required.
  • Professional certification is helpful but not required.

SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of five years of progressive management experience in human resources is required and preferably in a nonprofit community healthcare environment.
  • Working knowledge of employment and labor laws
  • Knowledgeable in HR software i.e ADP Applicant Tracking System Learning platforms (Relias Learning)
  • Knowledgeable in benefits administration to include meeting 401k fiduciary responsibilities
  • Familiar with developing compensation structures
  • Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal skills
  • Must be skillful in organizing people and activities toward an established set of goals
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor and communicate enthusiastically with employees
  • Must have flexibility to adapt to a changing health care environment and a desire to work hard and do well for the benefit of the organization and community
  • Ability to be responsive in working with a culturallydiverse patient population.
  • Ability to independently coordinate multiple tasks
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively lead a team
  • Must have valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record

PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITES

  • Local travel between health centers required
  • Some state travel to conferences and meetings as needed
  • Attend relevant professional activities such as company sponsored events as needed
  • Attend and lead trainings and seminars as directed
  • Attend and lead meetings as directed

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regular computer and telephone use required
  • Some lifting of supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs
  • 60 walking or standing 40 sitting at a desk. Walking through the center is strongly suggested
  • Deadlines and the general demands of the job may be exceptionally stressful
  • Category III re: exposure to blood bodily fluids and communicable diseases
