Job Description
Special Education Paraprofessional positions are available for the District 54 Extended School Year (ESY) program. Staff orientation will be held on Monday June 9 2025 with students attending June 10 2025 July 16 2025. All Fridays andJune 19 and July 3 are nonattendance days. Staff hours for ESY are 8:15am11:45am.
Job description includes:
- Assist with the supervision and instruction of students under the direction of a licensed teacher in all aspects of the daily program. This may include: classrooms washrooms playground before and after school loading and unloading of students from buses/ motor vehicles gymnasiums libraries and other educational settings as determined by the classroom teacher and/ or principal.
- Implement strategies under the guidance of teachers and/or related services staff designed to meet each students individual strengths and challenges in relation to learning needs including academic social emotional and sensory needs.
- Implement strategies for managing student behavior as directed which may include: implementing strategies for individual students as directed by a teacher and/ or related service staff toileting restraining of a student
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies
- Ability and desire to work collaboratively to assist students and teachers
- Conscientious about attendance and punctuality
- Know or willingness to learn technology required for students
- Know or willingness to learn to use appropriate equipment
- Ability to respect and maintain confidential student and family information
Additional Requirements:
- Is at least 19years of age and;
Meet State requirements for Professional Educator License with Stipulations (Paraprofessional 1 of the following required:
- Associates Degree or higher
- 60 semester hours of coursework
- High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS parapro
- High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT workkeys:
- Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (with a score of 4
- Reading for information/Workplace Documents (with a score of 4
Salary: Hourly rate based on salary schedule
