Scope of Position
The Center for Neurolmaging NeuroPhenotyping NeuroComputation and Neuromodulation (C4N)within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health encompasses MR equipment located at 1960 Kenny Rd Columbus Ohio 43201. C4N offers MR imaging services to adult and pediatric populations involved in clinical research protocols.
Position Summary
The MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging exams per IRB approved clinical research protocols. In addition the position provides participant education and performs quality assessment activities for C4N under the direction of the C4N Associate Director.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: Current Radiography license ARRT (R) required. Current Radiography ODH license required. 1 year of relevant experience. Previous MRI Technologist within a clinical research setting experience is preferred. Advanced registry in MRI preferred.
Ongoing: Maintains registry & licensing status; meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical interpersonal and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
Essential Duties
Imaging Technologist Duties 80 of the time
Produces high quality MRI exams utilizing imaging skills for modalities as assigned; Performs Imaging Time Out to ensure correct patient exam protocol and laterality are performed; Selects proper imaging parameters on individual patient basis safely operates equipment in accordance with imaging guidelines by the state and national organizations; Starts IV and/or maintains existing access lines and ports and administer contrast medication utilizing hospital standards; Provides general care to patients so that basic medical & comfort needs are satisfied; reacts in emergencies to initiate immediate & appropriate treatment; Participates in department call rotations to ensure emergency coverage is maintained as needed; Properly assesses and screens patients for appropriate clinical information and safety for imaging; provides information to patient/family regarding imaging procedures; Completes comprehensive MRI Safety screening of all patients visitors support staff and other Medical Center employees; Has the authority to accept verbal orders from Licensed Practitioners for imaging procedures following hospital policy; Completes necessary documentation & record keeping on images consultation/screening forms maintaining patient confidentiality and performs other clerical functions as assigned; Demonstrates universal precautions for infection control practices under the guidelines of OSUWMC; Maintains inventory of supplies and stocks areas with appropriate supplies; May perform other departmental functions within the scope of practice as assigned
Quality Assurance Responsibilities 20 of time
Maintains current QA/QC data for assigned equipment and/or protocols within the environment; critiques final images for quality and prepares images for interpretation by the radiologist; reports equipment problems to management and may initiate corrective action & documents such in conjunction with other departments; maintains a safe and neat working environment; participates in departmental meetings and in services and required educational opportunities; completes annual and other mandatory competencies by either computer or hands on learning as required by their job functions; maintains current RQI ACLS (when appropriate) standards as defined by the Medical Center
Organizational Expectations
Ensures department(s) operates within practice standards and meet minimum standards of American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Ohio Department of Health (ODH) American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and other regulatory agencies i.e. American College of Radiology (ACR) Joint Commission (JC) Ohio Department of Health (ODH).
Practices within the Medical Centers policies and procedures. Adheres to the Intensive Caring Value statements as demonstrated through positive patient/guest relations positive and effective interactions with staff and formulating and meeting developmental goals.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
