Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Work with the HCDE Schools Division to provide support to multiple campuses and individual teachers by modeling lessons and facilitating instructional strategies and planning for teachers and small groups of teachers in core program areas and Special Education. Provide targeted professional development and oneonone coaching to support teachers successfully with the items listed below:

  • Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting and classroom implementation
  • Notate and support deficiencies noted in the teacher lesson plans
  • Notate and support deficiencies in documentation of lesson mastery of IEP goals
  • Notate and support deficiencies in utilization of effective instructional strategies
  • Inclass coaching differentiation maximizing student learning data collection etc.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certification
  • Special Education certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with the campus administrative team and with all stakeholders for ensuring improvement in both instructional performance and academic achievement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies and student learning styles related to the unique learning needs of all students including those of special populations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of technology as a resource tool for accessing and analyzing data for determining appropriate interventions and supports to teachers
  • Demonstrated ability to use campus data for determining corrective intervention associated with instructional decisions and programming which impact teacher instruction and student performance
  • Broadbased knowledge of curriculum and initiatives/programs which support and are aligned to the curriculum as well as knowledge and training in application of researchbased teaching methods and learning strategies.
  • Ability to maintain effective written and oral communication
  • Ability to develop and provide professional development to adult learners
  • Demonstrated ability to write specific instructional campus improvement plans and follow through on campus improvement plans
  • Ability to improve teaching through a variety of methods i.e. coaching monitoring data focused dialogue collaborative planning campus improvement plan implementation providing professional development.

Experience:

  • Three to five years teaching experience preferred with emphasis in specified content area
  • Evaluation and analysis of assessment and accountability data
  • Development and delivery of professional development
  • Leadership participation in campus/department committees

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Utilize a variety of methods to improve teaching i.e. coaching monitoring data focused dialogue collaborative planning campus improvement implementation providing professional development.
  • Provide targeted feedback to teachers regarding classroom instruction and student achievement.
  • Arrange professional development activities for all teachers in the Schools Division.
  • Create professional development based on campus identified needs based on curriculum components.
  • Provide job embedded professional development to teachers and monitor implementation of development.
  • Attend district provided or facilitated professional development to include evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Maintain professional development in knowledge and expertise identify current trends and provide current information to content area teachers.
  • Assist in the implementation of campus curriculum initiatives and strategies through classroom coaching.
  • Develop and implement yearlong contentbased campus improvement plans.
  • Develop and implement 30day campus improvement plan in content area.
  • Evaluate yearlong and 30day campus plans.
  • Provide feedback on core contentbased campus improvement plans.
  • Identify areas of needed improvement in classroom instruction. Monitor campus and classroom student data and identify areas of improvement for instructional focus.
  • Serve as an instructional liaison between division and campus personnel. Provide leadership and facilitation of vertical and horizontal instructional planning and meeting among gradelevels and/or departments with teachers.
  • Collaborate with campus staff to facilitate systemic change and sustainability of division initiatives.
  • Assist teachers with academic documentation that tracks trails to demonstrate progress or regression of IEP goals and objects.
  • Ensuring that each teacher has the student IEP data and that the IEPs drive instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
