Job Summary
NOTE : No prior knowledge on the topic of tobacco use or public health is needed. The program will provide comprehensive training. NOTE : The position may be used to fulfill practicum hours if needed. Position Objective: To provide tobacco use prevention services to youth families and community members across Eastern Kentucky. Position Description: Supervised by the Program Director the Youth Prevention Specialist works in schools and communities to facilitate tobacco use prevention services based on the #iCANendthetrend framework which include: 1. Prevention Education 2. Information Dissemination 3. Youth Empowerment 4. Professional Development Position Responsibilities: Collaborate with schools parentteacher groups civic organizations church groups and other youth and community organizations to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use including ecigarettes. Implement peertopeer prevention program to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use including ecigarettes. Assist in providing orientation or information sessions for parents teachers staff or administrators in target area school and community sites when requested. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to meet program objectives.
