Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a fulltime tenuretrack Assistant Professor in Sociology beginning Fall 2025.
We seek an energetic innovative and studentcentric educator with a strong teacherscholar orientation. The area of specialization is open as the teaching responsibilities will encompass a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses. The candidate will also be expected to pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate students results in academic presentations and publications and contributes to advancing the department and the university.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates will hold a Ph.D. in sociology or a related field by the time of appointment. They should also have an active research agenda in sociology and the ability to teach and mentor students at the undergraduate level.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
RESPONSIBILITIES: Expectations for tenuretrack Assistant Professors at UNTDallas include excellent teaching research and service. Teaching duties include a load of four courses per academic semester at the introductory advanced undergraduate and graduate levels in a combination of facetoface and online courses. The successful candidate will also maintain an active research agenda mentor students and provide service to the department university and community.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with firstgeneration college students
Experience teaching core Sociology courses at the collegiate level
Demonstrated commitment to teaching with an emphasis on promoting the success of undergraduate students
Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship
Experience in curriculum development and developing interdisciplinary degree programs
Experience in developing and implementing service learning and experiential learning in curricular and cocurricular settings
Experience developing and teaching online courses
Ability to support the Master of Criminal Justice Graduate program
An interest in justice and/or communitybased mental health policy
