Job Description

Job Summary:

At Aurora Charter School we believe our greatest resource is the people who form our team. The Elementary Bilingual Teacher under the supervision of the principal is responsible for creating a duallanguage (English/Spanish) classroom environment that ensures the learning and personal growth of every student motivating students to become bilingual/biliterate leaders developing critical thinking skills and become environmental stewards.

Grades Levels:

4th Grade 60 English/40 Spanish)

5th Grade (Math/Science Spanish)

5th Grade (ELA/Social Studies English)

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Teachers must be committed to preserving the mission vision and student success profile of the school.

  • Create and maintain effective environments for student learning.

  • Plan instruction and design differentiated learning experiences for a range of needs and abilities utilizing MN standards.

  • Use formative and summative assessments of student learning to drive instruction.

  • Collect and analyze student data to improve the schoolwide instructional program.

  • Collaborate with instructional coaches students and families to support the academic and social development of students.

  • Communicate and actively build a strong relationship with students and parents/guardians on a regular basis including leading parent conferences.

  • Continually support student behavior with systems for feedback reflection and growth as supported by our PBIS implemented program.

  • Attend IEP and 504 meetings as required for your students.

  • Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs curriculum development meetings and other professional activities.

  • Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in school including curriculum nights and school events.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) possess a Native to Academic Spanish level if applicable for grade listed.

  • Knowledge of subjects taught instructional methods/strategies and curriculum differentiation in target languages

  • Knowledge of child development learning and behavior

  • Able to manage student behavior in a classroom setting

  • Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form in both targeted languages

  • Able to work well with others in the school community

  • Skilled in handling multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Skilled in pacing and differentiating instruction

  • Skilled in motivating and engaging students in the learning process

  • Skilled in organizing and relating information in an understandable format

  • Skilled in jobappropriate technology

  • Skilled in critical thinking and planning

Education and Experience:

  • A valid Minnesota teaching license in Elementary Education or the ability to obtain one.Dual Language endorsement is a plus.

  • Must be proficient in Native to Academic Spanish as noted in specific grade level listing

  • Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to lift or carry classroom supplies textbooks furniture and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds.

  • Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding writing and reading.
