The Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union and its Member School Districts are seeking experienced reliable substitute teachers and instructional assistants to join our team of educators. In this position you will work in the absence of our regular staff aiding students in their daily tasks and helping ensure the understanding of the subject matter being covered. Our substitute team members should possess the skills needed to cover daily instruction and run the classroom environment in an orderly fashion. Substitutes are professionals who play a vital role in the ongoing education of students. Duties and Responsibilities: Use materials provided to attain lesson goalsDirect the classroom accomplishing curriculum objectives and goals outlined in the lesson plansTake attendance according to the procedures of the school keep the classroom and work orderly and maintain normal classroomrhythmsComply with all procedures guidelines and policies of the school at all timesMaintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students faculty and parents including a commitment to confidentialitySubstitute Teacher/Instructional Assistant Requirements and Qualifications:High school diploma required; college degree preferredCollege students are strongly encouraged to applyA certificate in teaching is a plusDetailoriented and able to follow written and/or oral instructionsAble to communicate effectively with other personnel and facultyAble to cultivate relationships with pupils in a brief periodConfidence and capability in instructing in the absence of the regular teacherWilling and able to work standing for most of the day with few breaks to sitWilling and able to work outdoors for recess outdoor education and field trips
