The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for the provision of counseling and case management services to youth placed at the YES Home. Services are Medicaidreimbursed and participating youth are typically involved in the child welfare and/or juvenile justice systems. The Therapist facilitates individual family and group therapy sessions with program youth and monitors client progress from the point of intake/referral through treatment to discharge and aftercare. The Therapist also participates as an active member of the YES Home treatment team to staff cases and to provide input into programming and behavior management. The Therapist coordinates the flow of information across agencies and providers while protecting the confidentiality of individuals served.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Can articulate the mission vision and values of Choices the practice of evidencebased interventions and therapeutic services compliant with Medicaid regulations for enrolled individuals.
- Facilitates evidencebased interventions through individual family and group therapy sessions clinically assesses and reassesses individuals as required and participates in the treatment team working toward clientdriven goals.
- Provides clients with counseling and case management services to support increase or restore capacity for selfsufficiency.
- Maintains populationspecific competencies to ensure effective delivery of services to youth and families.
- Provides screening assessment treatment planning evidencebased therapeutic intervention reassessment discharge/aftercare planning and referrals as needed.
- Completes client documentation in accordance with Medicaid state federal and organization requirements.
- Completes client documentation within established timelines.
- Provides crisis intervention as required and followup clinical assessment with client(s) involved to determine need for appropriate clinical course of action.
- Attends or facilitates YES Home client staffing/treatment team meetings and documents outcomes.
- Meets regularly with supervisor or designee for clinical supervision and seeks further supervision when appropriate and necessary.
- Selfmonitors billing and productivity levels and gives feedback to supervisor regarding workflow and/or billing concerns.
- Communicates timely with Medicaid and other Indiana Health Coverage Programs regarding authorizations is critical.
- Maintains appropriate boundaries with youth and families receiving services.
- Willingly completes other duties as assigned to advance the mission of Choices.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree in social work psychology or a related human service field required with at least two years of fulltime experience providing direct mental health counseling and/or case management services preferred. Indiana license required (Licensed Clinical Social Worker Licensed Mental Health Counselor Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Licensed Psychologist Licensed Independent Practice School Psychologist).
- Maintains active clinical license as applicable per respective professional license board.
- Maintains active certification in specialized areas of practice and evidencebased treatment modalities.
- Demonstrated skills in assessment tools therapy with youth and families crisis intervention team building and development.
- Strong communication and writing skills. Bilingual skills (Spanish) a plus.
- Highly organized and effectively manages multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Professionally articulate in communicating (oral and written) system development change and outcomes.
- Demonstrated professionalism working in teams with internal colleagues and external audiences both in person and through various electronic media.
- Enthusiastic about advancing system change within the community.
- Must possess a valid drivers license in state of residence and auto insurance.
