Accountability: (This position is 100 grant funded through October 2025.
The Program Specialist is responsible for the quality participation and yearend financials results of the Teens and Action Program.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 25 years of progressive of experience working with students.
- Experience working with underserved youth
- Ability to work with a diverse group of youth and adults
- Basic computer skills
- Have and maintain a good driving record and reliable transportation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High moral character and integrity
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelors degree in social work education or a related field
- 35 years working with underserved teenagers
- 23 years experience with small group facilitation and grant management
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
Essential Functions:
- Provide participants with effective truancy prevention programming through oneonone mentoring and small group sessions.
- Providing lunch and afterschool programming daily.
- Operating a 14passenger van for up to 350 miles.
- Work some Saturdays and evenings as needed.
- Implement a recruitment plan including collaboration with coworkers schools and other organizations.
- Enroll new referrals in the program and collect necessary paperwork.
Relationships:
Must maintain clear communication and positive relations with all program staff guests volunteers peers and supporters of Camp Fire. Collaborate with other team members community agencies and school district personnel.
Key Area of Responsibility:
Program Operations
- lunch and afterschool small group sessions with youth to inspire and motivate them to Conduct stay in school improve attendance and grades and eliminate risky behavior such as alcohol and drug use.
- Demonstrate measurable improvement in those areas for all participants.
- Conduct home visits as needed to have a positive impact on the parentchild relationship.
- Teach students leadership and communication skills through Camp Fireapproved curriculum.
- Collaborate with Teens in Action Team on curriculum planning and design.
- Conduct an annual survey to assess Thriving indicators and plan needed improvements.
- Ensure that participants receive needed social services and resources.
- Provide experiences through service learning projects and field trips for students to impact their community and explore opportunities for college and career readiness
- Maintain accurate files including school attendance grades court appearances and home visits.
- Monitor program quality via observation and outcomes and facilitate needed improvements.
- Collect enter and report program data including participant demographic information.
- Communicate regularly with school and community officials to enroll new participants.
- Develop relationships with local community leaders and organize speakers and volunteers.
Human Resources
- Report any concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Attend required training and staff meetings.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with coworkers school faculty and grant monitors.
Financial Operations
- Ensure accurate and ontime completion of all reports required by grants.
- Complete pcard records accurately and on time and manage expenses within budget.
Marketing and Public Relations
- Promote the Teens in Action program within the school and community with ongoing communication and event attendance.
- Provide the marketing team with photos and stories of student activities and successes.
- Work with the marketing team to develop program marketing materials
Facility Management
- Maintain a clean and safe program space
- Clean Camp Fire vehicles as needed and report maintenance and repair needs
Council Program and Operations
- Participate in the Council Strategic Planning process through development of personal and departmental Annual Performance Appraisals/Work Plans.
- Maintain knowledge of all Council programs and operations.
- Provide assistance as needed concerning key areas of responsibility.
- Identify opportunities for donations and/or gifts in kind.
- Attend Camp Fire General Staff Meetings.
- Communicate regularly with the supervisor about unusual events special needs participant concerns and suggestions.
- Be able to communicate program purposes and goals in the community
