  • Part time 60.8 hours per fortnight located in Kalgoorlie.

HOPE has been a provider of community services in Western Australia for over 120 years providing much needed support for people in the areas of alcohol and other mental health justice and family and domestic violence.

About the Opportunity

The role of a Diversion Officer is to provide support to eligible clients through case management mentoring court support advocacy referrals to external programs and services and practical assistance. This includes support to young people to reengage in education and participate in therapeutic programs. This role is also required to work collaboratively with Youth Justice and other local agencies.

  • Provision of priority access for clients referred through the Western Australia Diversion Program.
  • Provide individual counselling to clients within the Western Australia Diversion Program framework.
  • Provide AOD assessment to determine client suitability for participation in a Diversion Program.
  • Oversee and support the following existing activities across the regional diversion programs such as Alcohol interlock scheme AAT Young Presentenced program Police diversion program include Cannabis intervention season CIR.
  • Support client in court to reduced recidivism in court to build a better inclusive community.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate client records and actively participate in quality audits including data validation and review.
  • Support the Counselling Team Leader to provide the regional diversion report as required.
  • Collect quality data and statistics required for funding bodies.

About you:

  • Relevant tertiary or equivalent qualification in Social Behavioural or Health Sciences or significant experience in counselling or the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) field.
  • Experience in working with people with AOD issues.
  • Demonstrated skills in supervising workers in the provision of effective service delivery to people and the capability to motivate empower and lead a team to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Experience in working supportively and therapeutically with people and the capacity and commitment to assist them to achieve positive change in their lives.
  • Experience in working with the Aboriginal community and crosscultural settings.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a program to facilitated various activities across different locations.

Desirable criteria:

  • Ability and willingness to do outreach to remote areas.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills problem solving abilities and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of the impact of mental health issues and comorbidities.
  • Ability to understand and apply a personcentered approach strengthbased perspective traumainformed practice and empowerment approach.

Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa satisfactory National Police check (within 3 months) Working With Children card Current C or A class drivers license and suitable work referees.
