Job Description
Position Title: Mechanical/Plumbing EIT Junior Engineer
Basic Function
As a member of the Architecture and Engineering team the Mechanical/Plumbing Junior Engineer contributes to all phases of complex projects from implementation to construction closeout. This role collaborates with senior staff on the design and construction administration of HVAC mechanical piping plumbing and fire protection systems. The engineer ensures that all work aligns with company policies brand standards and criteria while exceeding ownerships expectations.
Reporting to: Director of Engineering
General Job Duties
- Participate in all phases of the mechanical/plumbing design process including schematic design design development construction documents and construction administration.
- Assist senior engineering staff with:
- Developing reviewing and approving construction documents.
- Preparing engineering documents specifications and calculations.
- Creating and updating engineering standards incorporating best practices.
- Maintain and build relationships with consultants subcontractors vendors and material suppliers.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to meet project needs and objectives.
- Interpret drawings specifications and related construction documents.
- Attend team meetings and conference calls.
- Support construction administration tasks including reviewing shop drawings quality control and site visits.
- Evaluate new products systems energysaving strategies and costsaving initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as required.
General Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Mechanical Systems Expertise: Understanding of equipment ductwork/piping design sizing and layout.
- Construction Experience: Proficiency in construction document preparation and field observation.
- Codes and Standards: Familiarity with relevant building codes and standards (IBC ASHRAE NFPA).
- Software Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (including families levels modeling coordination and annotation).
- Experience with Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio for takeoffs markups and quality control.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Knowledge of Carrier HAP Trane Trace 3D Plus or similar software (preferred but not required).
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of energy analysis rebates and jurisdictional processes.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership organization business writing and communication skills.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work independently multitask and collaborate with a positive proactive attitude.
Intellectual and Physical Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with a desire to advance into a senior engineering role.
Experience:
- 13 years of progressive experience in a similar position.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 1525 pounds intermittently with occasional lifting of heavier equipment as needed.
Travel:
- Includes local and overnight travel to project sites training and industry events.
