Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Towson University Hillel as the IACT Coordinator. IACT Campus Program IACT (Inspired Active Committed Transformed) is an initiative that builds on the success of TaglitBirthright Israel by providing support and inspiration to students before and after their trip.

The IACT Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting students to participate in Birthright Israel trips each Winter and Summer and recruiting for other Israel immersion programs such as Onward Israel and Masa. The IACT Coordinator will work with students prior to their departure and upon their return from their Israel experiences developing oneonone relationships to engage students in Jewish life on campus helping them to find ways to be involved as leaders and participants Jewish and Israel programming and groups. The IACT Coordinator will be excited to engage students in Israel and Jewish conversations and will have a passion for utilizing Jewish identity and connection to Israel as a framework for shaping meaning value and purpose in the lives of emerging adults with the hope that students obtain an enduring connection to Israel.

The IACT Engagement Coordinator will possess contagious Jewish passion entrepreneurial energy strong leadership and networking skills. They along with the rest of the Hillel staff will innovate grow and experiment with models of Jewish experience community prayer and service that will influence the future of American Judaism.

What Youll Do

• Build 180 personal relationships with students who are not already involved in Jewish life by meeting them where they live work and/or study utilizing creative methods to reach and interest them.
• Manage and expand Towson Hillels Birthright Israel program including recruitment interviews pretrip orientations and improving the trip experience.
• Develop relationships with Jewish students from different groups on campus (Greek life majors etc. and nonaffiliated Jewish students to help them register for upcoming Birthright Israel Trips and engage more deeply with Hillel.
• Transforming campus Jewish life with the TaglitBirthright Israel alumni as a core group through which others are engaged and brought into Jewish activities.
• Recruit for and facilitate the Kol Yisrael Fellowship a 10week deep dive into Israel its history politics and relationship with world Jewry.
• Coordinate periodic Hillelwide events such as programming for the Yamim and other holiday celebrations.
• Maintain records of events and attendance for measurement and ongoing evaluation website weekly emails and social media.
• Support and oversee studentinitiated programs related to Israel; attend programs when appropriate as a member of the Hillel staff team (including evenings weekends Jewish holidays).
• Support student leaders in their leadership growth through oneonone meetings and group trainings to cultivate a caring and actively inclusive Jewish community.

On a day to day basis you will

• Coffee with a student interested in getting involved in an Israel travel experience identifying their interests and following up with a connection to a student leader or further information.
• Spend time on campus with Hillel Interns recruiting in public spaces.
• Meeting with colleagues to discuss Onward Israel and Birthright Israel recruitment and followup strategy.
• Dedicated time to note your interactions in the database and send followup or checkin emails to students.
• Supporting a student event in the evening where you meet two students who have not yet been on Birthright Israel and invite them to have coffee next week.

What Youve Accomplished

• Bachelors degree required.

What Youll Bring to the Job

• A focus on relationship building. You are constantly meeting new people interested in learning about them and their passions.
• Prior travel experience in Israel and a familiarity with Israel and Judaism.
• The ability to work flexible hours needed to complete job requirements including some nights weekends and holidays.
• Confidence initiating and running programs alone and as part of a team.
• Excellent followthrough on projects and the ability to multitask.
• Strong entrepreneurial spirit. Things may not always go according to plan and you must be willing to take risks and learn your wins as well as your losses.
• Excitement to continue developing your own relationship to Israel and Judaism.
• Energy a sense of humor flexibility and maturity.
