The Scope
To effectively meet the challenge of protecting the worlds forests we are committed to have the worlds most skilled people working with us. We are currently looking for an engagedLegal Officer in the business area ofTrademark and Intellectual Property with strong expertise and a passion for FSCs mission to join our multinational team.
The energetic team of the Legal Department supports all legal and compliance aspects of the FSC Group and advises FSCs management and its specialized units in their daily operations. Your primary focus will be on intellectual property (IP) matters particularly trademark protection enforcement and licensing affairs by working closely with the other legal team members to ensure effective support.

Main Roles & Responsibilities
You will focus on relevanttrademark andother IP mattersconcerning the FSC Groupwith a direct reporting line tothe Senior Trademark Counseloperatingunder the FSC Group Head of the Legal Departmenttherole will entail:
- Providinglegaladviceon all aspects ofIP lawwith aspecialfocus ontrademark and copyright lawunfair competitionpublicity rights law and domain nameas well asinternetand ecommercerelatedmatters.
- ProtectingFSCs trademarks and other intellectual property rights byhandlinginfringementand fraudcasesincludingdraftingandnegotiatingceaseanddesist lettersandpreparingforlitigation.
- Advisingon legal actions and alternative dispute resolution solutions and strategies.
- Supportingthedevelopment and refinement oftrademark protection strategies for the FSC Grouptoenhancethetrademarkenforcementprogram.
- Offeringtrademark supportand guidanceto theglobalFSC Network.
- Collaboratingwithexternalcounselsandoverseeingthe quality of results.
- Workingwith customs authoritiesandlaw enforcement agencies throughout the world in an effort to prevent fraud in the system.
- Participatingintrainingsessionsforstaff at FSC International and the globalFSC Networkin relation toIPaffairs.
- Workingclosely andrespondingtoinquiries ofdifferentinternal and external stakeholders.
- Conductingresearchactivitiesrelated to the work area.
- Engagingin crossfunctionalcollaboration and project support especially with Marketing & Communication as well as with theSystemIntegrity Unitand ITDepartment.
- Contributingtoadditionaltasksand overarchinglegalcasesasrequired.
Your profile
Education and Training:
- University degree in a relevant fieldof law.IdeallyMastersdegree in IP/Trademarks.
- Strong intellectualproperty backgroundwithknowledgeof IP portfolioand trademark enforcementmanagement database(s)and systems.
- Atminimumtwo2years ofpracticalexperiencepreferablyinhousein a globally oriented organizationand/orinternational law firm.
- Experience required in international trademark portfolios with specific experience in trademark clearance prosecutioninvestigationsand enforcementwork.
- Experience inlicensingbusinessand negotiation of license agreements isvaluable.
- Familiar with advertising and consumer protection laws laws relating to counterfeit goods andideallyexperience with customs and border control protectionisvery useful.
- Strong organizationaland time managementskills:ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a structured waywhile delivering highqualitywork.
- Service and detail orientedwith aproactive work method.
- Ability torepresentFSC through his/her work with exemplary personal and professional attitude and conductincluding a friendly and selfconfident appearance.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)is.
- Fluency in German and/or Spanish and/or Frenchand/or Chinese(spoken and written) isavery valuableplus.
- Standard software packages in particular MS Office 365 Word Excel PowerPoint. Experience with Dynamics 365 MS SharePoint MSVisionand MS Project is helpful.
- Trademark Portfolio Database Management Platforms isvery helpful.
- Contract Database Management platforms is an asset.
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability toestablishandmaintain positive interpersonal relations.
- Commitment to FSCs mission and valuesincluding cultural awareness.
- Ability torepresentFSC through his/her work with exemplary personal and professional authority and conduct.
The Fine Print
- Location: BonnGermany FSC International headquarter.
- Working Hours: Fulltime 40 hoursper week Hybrid
- Duration of contract: 2year contract with the intend to go openended.
- Starting Date: As soon as possible.
