Job Description

SELAs English Language Arts teacher for grades K6 divided into two cohorts (PreK2 and 36 plays a crucial role in advancing literacy language development and critical thinking in young learners. This teacher utilizes DIBELS data to customize their teaching strategies to cater to the individual needs of each student. Focused solely on English as a subject the teacher must be wellversed in Massachusetts standards and the CKLA curriculum. Additionally the teacher should be knowledgeable about projectbased learning and skilled in differentiating instruction within the classroom. A SELA teacher will be instructing children who are English speaking teachers will need to have a thorough understanding of English as a subject as well as a passion for teaching children to achieve high standards by SELAs expectations.Key Responsibilities:**Instructional Planning and Delivery:** Develop and implement ageappropriate lesson plans that align with state standards in reading writing speaking and listening. Teach foundational literacy skills such as phonemic awareness phonics fluency vocabulary and comprehension. Foster a love of reading and writing through engaging and creative activities literature and writing assignments. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).Assessment and DataDriven Instruction: Administer DIBELS assessments to monitor students progress in foundational literacy skills such as fluency accuracy and comprehension. Analyze DIBELS data and other assessment results to identify students strengths and areas for improvement. Use data to plan and implement targeted interventions for struggling readers. Regularly monitor and document student progress and adjust instruction as needed.Classroom Management and Student Engagement: Create a positive inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation and collaboration. Manage classroom behavior effectively and implement strategies to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment. Build strong relationships with students to support their academic and socialemotional growth.#### **Collaboration and Communication:** Collaborate with colleagues interventionists and support staff to align literacy instruction and interventions across grade levels. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about students progress strengths and areas for improvement. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in literacy instruction and DIBELS data analysis.*Other Duties:** Maintain accurate and uptodate records of student performance attendance and behavior. Participate in schoolwide events meetings and committees as required conferences Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.Qualifications:Education and Certification: Bachelors degree in Education English or a related field (Masters degree preferred). Valid teaching certification for K6 Education in the applicable state. Endorsements in English Language Arts or Reading Specialist certification (preferred).#### **Skills and Experience:** Experience teaching English Language Arts to elementary school students. Familiarity with DIBELS assessments and the ability to analyze and apply data to instruction. Strong knowledge of literacy development including phonics phonemic awareness fluency vocabulary and comprehension strategies. Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.Creativity passion to teach. Strong communication and collaboration skills.Preferred Skills: Experience working with diverse student populations including ELLs and students with special needs. Knowledge of Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks and strategies.
