Job Description
The Software Asset Management Lead role supports the daytoday activities associated with the organizations IT assets ensuring operational efficiencies and data completeness through the full lifecycle of IT assets and software being utilized across a hybrid environment (multicloud and onprem) including:
- Coordinating and collaborating with partners across the enterprise including: Business Application Owners Service Catalogue Manager Software Product Owners and Procurement representatives.
- Understand impact of maintenance / assurance support contracts and requirements.
- Handle lifecycle stages of software assets from initial request purchasing deployment maintenance through removal from service.
- Ensuring quality of software asset records within the Asset Management Repository including Software Discovery Models Software Product Models and Software Entitlements.
- Discover and establish a full inventory of software deployed.
- Identify and correlate hardware and devices of the deployed software.
- Identify number of licenses licensing scheme / type and utilization of each discovered software.
- Identify licensed applications and identify vendor count cost per license and current license holders. Categorize all license usage: assigned inuse assigned unused unassigned expired.
- Performing reconciliation by comparing entitlements with discovered software installations to resolve effective license positions for each inscope publisher.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in daytoday operational activities for a Software Asset Management (SAM) in infrastructure environment
- Understanding of common enterprise database platforms (Oracle MSSQL Server etc)
- Familiar with infrastructure terminology (database server cloud VM network telephony etc.
- Experience managing software assets throughout their full lifecycle
- Understanding of software licensing models including for large vendors (IBM Oracle Microsoft etc.
- Experience with asset discovery tools and managing associated data; to analyze and identify potential gaps
- Experience with SAM related platforms tools and integrations including ServiceNow SAM and Coupa
Preferred
- Understanding of common open source database platforms (PostgreSQL MySQL MariaDB MongoDB etc)
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- Application Portfolio Management Software Asset Management and discovery tools experience (FlexeraOne ServiceNow Discovery SCCM ServiceNow APM
- Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills
- Good working knowledge of major operating systems and hardware platforms
