The Alternatives Advisory Practice sits within Northern Trust Asset Management and works closely with Northerns $140B Global Family Office practice to provide customized Private Investments and Hedge Fund solutions. The team collaborates on investment and operational diligence with 50 South Capital a boutique alternatives provider within Northern Trust that has over $14.1 billion in assets.

The Alternatives Advisory Practice is seeking to add a professional in the Chicago headquarters to be part of a team that will review analyze and source investments across the alternatives space. This includes Private Investments (buyout growth equity venture capital private credit) and Hedge Funds in both in US and Europe. In addition this individual would be responsible for monitoring legacy portfolios structuring and implementing bespoke alternatives portfolios for clients. This individual would also be responsible for assisting in new business efforts portfolio monitoring and other special projects.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Financial analysis and cash flow modeling for Private Investment portfolios.

• Attending investment diligence sessions and performing portfolio monitoring activities.

• Assisting with the preparation of due diligence materials and Investment Committee memorandums.

• Industry and market research related research for potential investments.

• Assisting with business development and investor relations projects such as maintaining marketing and quarterly performance presentations creating industry white papers and interfacing with the back office team.

Qualifications:

• Strong analytical and judgment skills with ability to assess both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of an investment.

• High attention to detail and a strong work ethic.

• Excellent interpersonal skills ability to work within a collegial team environment.

• Strong communication skills both written and orally.

• Highlydeveloped analytical ability and experience with financial statement analysis and valuation of privately held companies.

• Intellectual curious and humble approach to investing.

• Must be comfortable representing the firm to outside constituencies in a professional way.

• Position may require some travel for due diligence and portfolio monitoring activities.

• Highly proficient in Word Excel and PowerPoint.

Experience:

• Bachelors degree with a major in business finance accounting or economics preferred.

• 13 years of prior relevant experience such as investment banking leveraged finance transaction services advisory consulting corporate finance or other alternatives asset management; direct principal investing experience a plus.

Salary Range:

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay.
