Deep knowledge of and appreciation of teaching literature history the social sciences and social justice from multiple perspectives as well as expertise in teaching reading strategies literary analysis grammar writing mechanics prose creative writing and analytical reading writing and research are required. A qualified candidate will also possess a strong enthusiasm and deep knowledge of middle school students a commitment to fostering and modeling our core values and a clear understanding and dedication to equity and inclusion and infusing antibias and culturally responsive pedagogy.This is a fulltime tenmonth exempt and benefiteligible position that reports to the middle school head and begins on August 25 2025. Based on the minimum years of experience required for this role the salary range for this position is $66700 to $99150 for twenty years of prior teaching experience..ResponsibilitiesTeach two sections of Grade 7 English; teach two sections of Grade 7 social studies.Engage weekly in collaborative planning meetings with the English department Run a middle school clubCreate and deliver rigorous effective and compelling curricular experiencesMaintain documentation of curriculumWork to ensure academic excellencethe ability of students to approach novel tasks with the confidence mindset and skills to accomplish them successfullyFoster an equitable and inclusive community in and outside of the classroomServe in one or more roles: Capstone mentor middle school athletics coach Growth Development and Belonging teacher or associate teacher mentorCollaborate with teams of colleagues to support cocurricular programming and the development of students beyond the classroomKeep careful anecdotal and assessment records to inform and write comprehensive student reportsLead and assist in parentteacher conferences focused on the social emotional and academic growth of middle school studentsConstructively participate in professional evaluation programProvide regular constructive and specific feedback to students to encourage their growth and improvement as readers writers and speakersEstablish and maintain strong homeschool partnerships with families to ensure students successEngage with students routinely by providing coverage at lunch recess and dismissal or other duties as neededPerform additional responsibilities as required
