Position Summary
Instructors in the School of Foundational Learning are responsible for providing instruction to learners; evaluating learner progress designing and developing curriculum and instructional materials and supporting learners in meeting the learning outcomes of their courses and programs.
The Instructor guides the development of curriculum courses and methodologies to address the learning requirements within the Humanities discipline. They work collaboratively with faculty and internal stakeholders to facilitate inclusive learning opportunities for learners of varying skill levels and experience and support internal research into continuous instructional improvement.
Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Creates lesson plans and course schedule independently and as part of a team.
- Evaluates learner performance on an ongoing basis and provides learners and administrators with learner progress reports.
- Provides onetoone instructional support for learners outside of the classroom as needed.
- Provides a Positive Learning Experience for Students
- Meets and/or contacts students regarding any academic issues (for example: attendance conduct performance).
- Refers students to other institutional supports as required (for example: tutoring counseling).
- Builds and Maintains Relationships with Internal and External Stakeholders and Promote the Department and the College.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education.
- 2 years teaching experience.
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (Interim or Permanent).
- Experience in the Humanities discipline.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Bachelors degree in Subject related field.
- Instructional experience in a related field or in a postsecondary environment would be considered an asset.
- Understanding of Indigenous teaching and learning principles.
- Experience working successfully in a team based educational setting.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and problemsolving skills required.
- Experience working with an online delivery platform (i.e. D2L Blackboard or Moodle).
If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS WES or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire.
