Summary:
Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in performing Flow Cytometry laboratory tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis treatment and research; supervises technical and nontechnical staff involved in classifying leukemias and lymphomas through immunophenotyping assessing immunologicallyrelated diseases providing clinical data to assess transplant therapy progress and analyzing the DNA components of solid tumors; provides direct administrative and clinical support to the Department Chairperson and Administrator; performs monitors and reviews simple and/or complex laboratory test procedures in one or more laboratory sections.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
License Requirement1. Possession of a full license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
2. Eligibility for full licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
3. Possession of a restricted license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist within the area of Flow Cytometry in the State of New York; or
4. Eligibility for restricted licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist within the area of Flow Cytometry in the State of New York; or
5. Physician licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of New York.
Education and Experience1. Doctorate degree in one of the chemical physical or biological sciences and the equivalent of one 1 year of fulltime experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a Flow Cytometry clinical laboratory; or
2. Masters degree in one of the chemical physical or biological sciences and the equivalent of two 2 years of fulltime experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a Flow Cytometry clinical laboratory; or
3. Bachelors degree in one of the chemical physical or biological sciences and the equivalent of four 4 years of fulltime experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a Flow Cytometry clinical laboratory; or
4. Bachelors degree in degree in medical technology or laboratory science and the equivalent of four 4 years of fulltime experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a Flow Cytometry clinical laboratory.
NOTES:1. As a condition of continued employment full license eligible incumbents must obtain and maintain the full Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure in the State of New York within six 6 months of their appointment to this title; or
2. As a condition of continued employment restricted license eligible incumbents must obtain and maintain the restricted licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist within the area of Flow Cytometry in the State of New York within fifteen 15 months of their appointment to this title.
3. Possession of the Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure supersedes educational requirements listed above as stated in section 581.5 (b) of the NYS Codes Rules and Regulations.
4. The applicable clinical laboratory or blood bank experience must be from a clinical laboratory or blood bank as defined in Section 571 of the New York State Public Health Law.
