Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:The Physical Therapist will provide physical therapy services across the agency including services to students in the Helping Hand School clients in the Outpatient Clinic and/or the Adult Program.

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

  • Onsite position weekdays40 hours per week
  • Salary range $70000$76000/year (Exempt).
  • Salary based on skills and experience.
  • Quarterly bonus potential.

A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU AT HH:

  • Complete evaluations for students and/or clients to assess the various functions and skills related to physical therapy development.
  • Write formal evaluation and assessment reports that include useful information for programming when necessary.
  • Participate in the development of writing IEPs and treatment plans across program areas.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans and materials for programming and school groups incorporating IEP goals.
  • Conduct required evaluations and reviews as well as write appropriate supporting reports in a timely manner.
  • Plan implement and supervise gym activities equipment and safety.
  • Provide inservice training to team members and others as appropriate including new staff orientation.
  • Assist teachers and/or other staff in providing for the function and sensory needs of the students and/or clients in the classroom and/or day program.
  • Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team which requires attendance in classroom IEP Domain and other meetings as necessary collaborating with other staff in creating individualized curriculum and programming for each student/client.
  • Attend IDT meetings and collaborate with adult services staff as necessary.
  • Complete family phone calls and communication to provide consistency between the school clinic and day program as well as home environments as required.
  • Provide direct physical therapy to students and/or clients in individual and in group settings.
  • Plan conduct and supervise groups in the school and/or clinic as appropriate.
  • Provide home programming and training to parents guardians and caregivers to provide carryover of therapy in the home as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

LAND THIS OPPORTUNITY BY HAVING:

Education:

  • DPT Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (following January 1 2015 or Masters in Physical Therapy (if prior to January 1 2015.
  • A current State of Illinois License for Physical Therapy.

Experience:

  • Experience working with children and adults ages 322 years (preferred).
  • Experience with autism spectrum disorders and other diagnosis (i.e. Intellectual disability developmental delay etc..

Skill Sets:

  • The ability to conduct physical therapy assessments via team and individual evaluations.
  • The ability to plan and conduct individual and group therapies.
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Ability to keep abreast of best practice trends in field of expertise.
  • Ability to conform to the policies procedures practices rules and regulations of Helping Hand.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and flexibility to adapt to changes throughout the day.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the entire team to ensure safe and efficient delivery of services while utilizing strong conflict management and team building skills.
  • Ability to work in any area assigned by supervisors.
  • Ability to promote and adhere to company values.

  • Ability to fulfill all necessary training requirements of the agency including but not limited to crisis management (crisis management training includes deescalation strategies and physical management techniques).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about to assist clients/students access file cabinets office machinery etc.
  • This position requires team members to work with individuals exhibiting physical aggression; must be comfortable working in periods of crisis and feel comfortable deescalating individually or as a team.
  • Capability to lift and assist students/clientswith physical needs; which may require moderate physical exertion.
  • The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Consistently position self to maintain files in file cabinets or assist clients/students.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
