Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief Oncology Officer the Head of Business Operations is responsible for driving and leading daytoday operations for the Chief Oncology Officer including key interactions meetings & presentations. He/she serves as strategic advisor and sounding board with a willingness and ability to provide ideas and solutions and their sound . The Head of Business Operations will also contribute to the Oncology organization helping leader build an industryleading organization shape its culture and promote colleague engagement. The Head of Business Operations will ensure effective communications and engagements with internal and external stakeholders. This role is responsible for leading high priority scientific strategy projects within Pfizers Oncology organization. As part of this team you will work directly with senior leaders including the Chief Oncology Officer to develop a roadmap for the organization drive change and communicate the direction and impact to executive stakeholders.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

  • Lead daytoday operations for the Chief Oncology Officer including the management of key interactions meetings and presentations to enhance organizational effectiveness and ensure successful communications and outcomes
  • Optimize leadership team meetings by ensuring agendas further leadership priorities and strengthen team dynamic with all actions tracked and commitments completed
  • Quarterback and manage projects and produce materials that support and further business portfolio and strategic priorities
  • Create and maintain crossenterprise relationships to manage and execute operational and planning needs to enable leadership and organizational success
  • Manage Administrative support colleague(s)

Business Planning

  • Lead major projects for the Chief Oncology Officer to deliver impact and business critical insights to Pfizer executive leaders. These initiatives may include:
  • Planning and implementing key initiatives and represent Oncology on corporate project teams
  • Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful and impact of projects
  • Support the Chief Oncology Officer to maximize the effectiveness of key internal and external deliverables
  • Drive portfolio and strategic priorities from conception to completion; contributing to the formation positioning and success of the Oncology organization
  • Produce strategic documents and presentations (e.g. analyst briefings etc. in collaboration with Chief Oncology Officer and partners
  • Partner with the Chief Oncology Officer to identify areas where they must direct their focus and identifying success metrics revisiting regularly and evaluating progress
  • Lead and/or participate in strategic projects and initiatives as appropriate to facilitate alignment decisionmaking and implementation
  • Contribute to and coordinate semester goals for Chief Oncology Officer and leadership team and ensure goals are advanced and achieved

Communications Engagement

  • Develop strong understanding of our Oncology R&D strategy pipeline and capabilities and actively use this knowledge to inform priorities for the leader and organization
  • Partner with Communications to support planning and management of internal and external leader communications including Town Halls site visits external appearances press releases media coverage etc.
  • Prepare talking points and communications for leader to support change initiatives process improvements and organizational updates
  • Lead team culture work and introduce initiatives to promote engagement and reinforce wellness as a leader priority
  • Partner with People Experience to design and lead various development opportunities for teams leaders and colleagues
  • Plan and manage critical meetings events and communications and ensure objectives and successful outcomes are achieved
  • Address and coordinate requests from various Pfizer stakeholders
  • Eliminate barriers and silos and in foster a culture of collaboration communication and transparency

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree (advanced degree a plus e.g. Masters etc. in science
  • 10 years of experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical Industry or equivalent
  • The successful candidate will be a wellorganized creative independent selfmotivated individual with exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Preference for a scientific background and strong interest in learning more about our R&D strategy pipeline key assets and capabilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • R&D Operational and Business Line knowledge/experience a plus
  • PhD in a life science or related discipline
  • Experience with providing executive level support and development of business and visibility platforms for senior executives
  • Demonstrate Pfizer business and scientific acumen; strong project management and multitasking skills; ability to respond to tight timelines; proven capability to interact with all levels of the organization in a professional and discreet manner
  • Robust understanding of biopharmaceutical industry R&D processes and the external and internal business environment
  • Familiarity with the Pfizer organization (or other relevant organization) particularly R&D/Business Units/Enabling Functions
  • Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotech business and R&D/clinical environment with experience from early discovery through clinical development of therapeutic candidates
  • Proven ability in managing daytoday Planning and Communication activities
  • Experienced in communicating and interacting with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills organizational maturity and ability to develop a network of trusted relationships with peers and other stakeholders
  • Possess a high energy level sense of urgency creativity decisiveness ability to work hard and well under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without hierarchy across the organization
  • Commitment to leadership equity and talent development
  • Ability to work effectively across interfaces and to navigate a complex matrixed organization
  • Strong evidence of business acumen
  • Ability to lead complex global teams where resources are not in direct control
  • Proven ability to develop creative solutions to business challenges

  • High emotional intelligence and strong capability to manage and resolve conflicts

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204700.00 to $341100.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5 of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
