Job Description
Position Objective
The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the engineering operations within the Maritime division. This role ensures that engineering projects are completed to meet or exceed technical requirements while operating within specified budgets and schedules. The Chief Engineer plays a critical role in developing innovative engineering strategies aligned with the Maritime vision. Along with program this includes establishing and managing Research and Development investment roadmaps that enable the implementation of the Maritime strategy. The Chief Engineer will report to the Vice President of Engineering and will interface regularly with the Sparton CEO as well as other senior and executive leadership within the company. This position requires a broad technical knowledge required to lead multiple teams across several programs.

Primary Responsibilities
- Manage engineering of Maritime portfolio of programs
- Provide direction leadership and mentoring to assigned engineering team members
- Lead teams to create a high performing cross functional team focused on program
- Ensure Risks and Opportunities for programs within Maritime portfolio are being identified and actively managed
- Responsible for cost technical and schedule performance for engineering scope for all Maritime programs
- Establish Maritime programmatic and technologies roadmaps
- Allocate and manage Maritime assigned Research and Development budget
- Create and manage technical roadmaps for Maritime portfolio
- Manage technical team ETCs throughout the project lifecycle
- Serve as Maritime technical POC to customers
- Stay uptodate with industry trends and innovations to drive advancements into program
- Resolve complex technical issues and ensure adherence to the overall engineering process throughoutProvides technical insight to Vice President of Development Programs Vice President of Engineering and Senior Leadership Team in internal and external program reviews and reports
- Support Bid and proposals efforts to include customer engagement efforts
- Uses Sparton policies and procedures to complete work assignments and assures group employees adhere to the Sparton policies and procedures
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- BS Engineering MS preferred
- 15 years experience
- Earned Value Management (EVM) Control Account Manager (CAM) experience preferred
- Experience working through the System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process
- Experience leading high performing cross functional teams
- Experience with Maritime systems preferred
Required Qualifications
- Must possess or be able to acquire a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Demonstrated analytical problem solving
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Thorough understanding of the Defense acquisition and budget process
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally when required
