This coaching position is not a paid coaching position.
Must possess an active NM Athletic Coaching license. Concussion course certificate is required. Fundamentals of Coaching course certificate is required.
To provide leadership supervision and set examples for the High School Wrestling program. Stay knowledgeable of NMAA District and Los Alamos rules and regulations. Attend clinics whenever possible to learn new ideas and to stay informed. Inventory and maintain equipment. Explain what is expected for wrestling athletes on and off the mat. Work in conjunction with the high school coaches. Make sure every athlete has a physical on file. Turn in all paperwork in a timely manner. Apply discipline in a firm fair and positive manner. Make sure athletes conduct themselves in a proper manner on and off the mat. Make sure team treats opponents with respect. Keep the Athletic Director informed at all times about the program. Be able to work in cooperation with all the coaching staff; and parents.
Must be able to demonstrate the sport or activity including lifting all equipment as required by the activity. This is to include tournaments and practices. The employee must have the physical stamina to be able to handle the hours and physical stress of the sport during contests and practices. The employee should be able to use the machines tools equipment and work aids which may be representative of those commonly associated with this type of work.
Requirements and Fees for Paid/Volunteer Coaches per New Mexico Public Education Department (NM PED):
Fingerprint Background Check fee Coach will pay is $59 (Credit/Debit Card only)
Athletic Coaching License fee Coach will pay is $50 (Credit/Debit Card Only)
Fundamentals of Coach course fee Coach will pay $45 (Credit/Debit Card)
First Aid Health and Safety for Coaches course fee Coach will pay $45 (Credit/Debit Card)
Concussion in Sports course no fee
Coaching an Outdoor Sport If so Heat Illness Prevention course is needed no fee
Please register online at www.nfhslearn. Click on the Courses tab on the home page scroll down to locate the above courses needed for completion.
After completion of each course please print your Certificate of Completion and send to Los Alamos Public Schools Human Resources Department by hand delivery mail or email.
You have two 2 months maximum to complete all courses after you have been processed and fingerprinted to be a Coach with Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS).
