Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Litigation Associate with experience handling municipal civil and commercial litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 4 years of litigation experience strong advocacy skills and the ability to manage cases from inception through resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent municipalities public entities and businesses in litigation matters including contract disputes regulatory issues land use zoning and governmental defense.
- Handle commercial litigation cases involving breach of contract business torts real estate disputes and other complex civil matters.
- Draft pleadings motions and legal memoranda and conduct legal research.
- Manage discovery including depositions document production and interrogatories.
- Appear in state and federal courts and administrative hearings on behalf of clients.
- Provide strategic legal counsel to municipal clients on risk management compliance and regulatory matters.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop litigation strategies tailored to specific cases.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Licensure: Illinois Bar. Strong preference for those also barred in Missouri.
- 34 years of litigation experience with a focus on municipal or commercial litigation.
- Strong research writing and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
- Prior experience representing public sector entities businesses or insurers is preferred.
Location: Edwardsville IL hybrid or remote option.
