About Journeys End
Journeys End Marina has been in Rockland Maine for over 30 years. The parent company OHara Corporation has been in the maritime industry for over 100 years operating fishing boats around the country. Starting in Boston as Francis J. OHara and Sons.
In the 1990s the fishing industry declined on the East coast and the fishing boats moved west which left acres of waterfront property vacant. Fearing the loss of Rocklands historic working waterfront OHara Corporation purchased the unused processing plants. This marked the beginning of a vision that has become Journeys End Marina. A firstclass marina for all boating needs. Our clients travel from all over the world to store their boats and yachts with us!
As a Fiberglass Technician you will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks relating to recreational and commercial fiberglass boats. This includes all aspects of fiberglass repair and boat detailing. This is a great opportunity if you love physical work outdoors and thrive at interacting closely with small teams. On the job training will be available for the right candidate.
This is a full time hourly nonexempt position.
Education and Experience
- Highschool or GED diploma preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Minimum 1 year work experience
- Basic Computer skills required
- Knowledge of power tools
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
Job Summary
- Repair fiberglass damage to boats
- Painting gelcoating sanding grinding and fabricating parts
- Boat detailing buffing cleaning and waxing
- Crawling on under or in boats
- Entering your work time in our marina software
- Knowledge and adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
- Work well as part of a closeknit team.
Essential Functions
- Understand and follow instructions directions and safety rules in English.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit walk talk and hear; handle or operate objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
- Ability to lift/carry at least 50 pounds.
