Riverview School is an independent coeducational boarding/day school providing a caring community and learning environment for adolescents and young adults with complex language learning and cognitive disabilities. We are seeking a full time CrossDepartmental Instructor who will provide direct and ongoing supervision instruction and support to all assigned students while coordinating daytoday operations of a dormitory. This role also has a dedicated weekly role in an academic classroom. Responsibilities include:1.Provide a structured and supportive dormitory environment designed to promote growth and independence through direct instruction assessment and modeling.2.Provide academic support in a classroom/vocational setting one day a week in the role of substitute aide vocational or behavior support. 3.Meet the individual and collective needs of students based on their learning styles and social/emotional needs providing a consistent wellsupervised productive and nurturing learning environment responsive to each students needs.4.Utilize curriculum best practices and rubrics in teaching and assessing independent living skills in the areas of social skills independent living skills cooking wellness fitness budgeting community safety and executive functioning.5.Teach instruct and support students in the areas of social pragmatics executive functioning developing and maintaining friendships perspective taking problem solving conflict resolution stress reduction and independent living skills. 6.Document and track progress of individual student goals and report in quarterly progress reports. 7.Support and Teach Executive Function skills in the areas of room care time management organization and planning within the dorm setting.8.Instruct students on personal safety and boundaries utilizing the Safety and Boundaries curriculum to teach students guidelines around; safety boundaries consent selfadvocacy and personal hygiene. 9.Ensure that parents receive regular communication as outlined in the Family Handbook and as needed. Notify parents in a timely manner of any significant and/or ongoing concerns including but not limited to; changes in behavior peer conflicts breaking of school rules etc.10.Provide each assigned student with the level of direct and ongoing supervision needed to assure their safety and emotional wellbeing (as well as that of other students). While on duty provide a highly visible and interactive presence especially during outofdorm and offgrounds activities and during all transitions.11.Assess students on caseload with collaboration of the team to develop an individualized goal and objective. Provide instruction support and guidance to assist students in meeting their annual goals document process and meet regularly with students. 12.Provide the emotional support safety and physical care needed to students experiencing health or behavioral concerns. Follow procedures for handling medical emergencies.13.All other duties as assigned.Minimum requirementsRequires a Bachelors degree in Education or a closely related field and work experience.Legal authorization to work in the USSuitable background check for CORI SORI and DCF with fingerprinting requiredApply online.
