Job Description
The Lawrenceville School announces a job opening for a Math teacher. We are seeking enthusiastic energetic collegial individuals who want to work with both adults and students in a collaborative and inclusive academic setting. Experience teaching a range of courses including Computer Science or postCalculus electives is a plus.
The Lawrenceville Mathematics Department encourages students to develop an appreciation for the inherent beauty and utility of mathematics as well as facility with constructing and evaluating mathematical arguments using mathematical models to describe realworld phenomena and making decisions in the face of risk and uncertainty.
Essential Responsibilities
- Teach four sections two to three preparations per trimester.
- Two seasons of coaching or equivalent cocurricular commitment.
- Advise five to eight students and do one evening a week of House duty providing supervision in a student residence from 7 to 11:30 p.m.
- Although not necessarily starting their first year faculty who reside in Schoolprovided housing are expected to spend eight years living in one of the residential houses at some point in their career.
- Chaperone a weekend activity (dance coffee house etc. at least once per term.
- Work professionally and cooperatively within the department the School and the broader Lawrenceville community.
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics or related field; Masters degree preferred
- At least two years high school teaching experience
- A passion for teaching mathematics
- The strongest candidates have the ability to teach upperlevel math courses including Calculus BC Computer Programming Statistics and/or postCalculus electives.
- Demonstrated success planning and facilitating collaborative studentcentered learning experiences
- Background in and commitment to culturally responsive teaching
- Experience with effective use of technology in the learning process
- Strong interpersonal organizational and communication (oral and written) abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently as needed and appropriate
- Proficient computer skills including familiarity with Google suite and Microsoft Office suite
