Job Description
ATHLETIC TRAINERBRATTLEBORO UNION HIGH SCHOOLThe Windham Southeast School District (WSESD)/Windham Southeast Supervisory Union (WSESU) is an increasingly diverse community with an ongoing commitment to social justice and antiracism. We are looking for enthusiastic professionals to join us in furthering this work. Requirements: Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification. Maintain current state licensure in accordance with the Vermont Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners. Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care. Prior high school or college experience as a certified athletic trainer preferred but not required.Major Duties and Responsibilities: The athletic trainer will practice the profession within the requirements of the State of Vermont and use best practices in athletic training. These duties are based on the needs of the school and its athletic programs. Successful candidate must have a passion for working in a high school setting. The athletic trainers duties enumerated in this document should not be considered all inclusive. The Athletic Director as necessary shall modify duties. Promote and support an effective athletic training program for high school athletics.Provide first aid and injury assessments/treatment/rehabilitation/reconditioning for studentathletes. The athletic trainer will also be responsible for making appropriate physician referral.Provide coverage at home events and practices from the beginning of the fall sport season to the conclusion of the spring season. Attendance at additional events may be assigned by the Athletic Director.Administer supervise and update concussion protocols for all studentathletes and maintain an emergency action plan. Supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during the sport seasons.Maintain a line of communication with local physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport specific conditioning programs and methods.Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.Maintain communication with parents on the care and treatment of their studentathlete.File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.Maintain a daily treatment log.Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up to date inventory. Provide the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment.Equip each team with appropriate medical equipment.Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment including special taping pads or braces.Support a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.Oversee required training and certifications for all coaches and coordinate professional development. Training staff and coaches about the wellness center.Other duties as may be required or assigned.Successful candidates will be able to discuss their expertise and experience working with students from historically marginalized demographic groups.
