Job Description

Job Description: Project Manager Land Development with Professional Engineer (PE)

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager with a Professional Engineer (PE) license to oversee and manage land development projects from inception to completion. The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating the planning design and of residential commercial or mixeduse land development projects. This individual will collaborate with internal teams contractors municipal agencies and clients to ensure projects are completed on time within budget and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning & Management:

    • Lead and manage land development projects ensuring projects meet client objectives budgets and timelines.
    • Coordinate project schedules resources and budgets ensuring timely and delivery.
    • Prepare project proposals scope of work documents and contract specifications.
    • Monitor project progress and resolve any issues that arise during project implementation.
  2. Design & Engineering Oversight:

    • Provide technical oversight on land development design including grading stormwater management utilities and infrastructure.
    • Review and approve design drawings engineering plans and calculations ensuring they comply with local state and federal regulations.
    • Work closely with architects civil engineers environmental consultants and other stakeholders to refine and execute designs.
  3. Regulatory Compliance & Permitting:

    • Oversee the permitting process including managing interactions with local municipalities zoning boards environmental agencies and other regulatory bodies.
    • Ensure projects comply with all applicable laws codes regulations and safety standards.
    • Secure the necessary approvals permits and environmental assessments for land development projects.
  4. Team Leadership & Coordination:

    • Lead crossfunctional project teams including engineers contractors and consultants ensuring smooth collaboration and communication.
    • Conduct regular project meetings providing updates on status potential risks and milestones.
    • Mentor and develop junior engineers and staff providing guidance and support.
  5. Client & Stakeholder Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients ensuring their needs are met and expectations are managed.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients regulatory agencies contractors and subcontractors.
    • Present project updates to clients stakeholders and upper management as required.
  6. Budget & Financial Management:

    • Manage and track project budgets ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints.
    • Prepare cost estimates bid documents and negotiate contracts with contractors and vendors.
    • Approve invoices and monitor financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  7. Risk Management:

    • Identify potential risks obstacles or issues early in the project and implement effective mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure all safety standards are followed onsite and that risks are managed in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in land development civil engineering or project management within the real estate or construction industry.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of land development processes civil design and construction techniques.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with project management software (e.g. Procore Microsoft Project) design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients regulators and team members.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership abilities including managing crossfunctional teams and coordinating project activities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Masters degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in both residential and commercial land development projects.

Work Environment:

  • Officebased with site visits as required.
  • Occasional travel to project sites or meetings with clients contractors and municipal agencies.
