English (L2 Second Language Teacher Lower School (Immediate Opening):

DEFINITE POSITION:
- SECOND LANGUAGE (L2 Teacher(Full Time) ENGLISH Language Arts classroom teacher (multiple groups) in grades 4 and 5.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BA or equivalent in Elementary Education (or related field).
- Nativespeaker proficiency in target instructional language (English Spanish or French).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least three years fulltime teaching experience.
- Master degree in Elementary Education (or related field).
- Certification in elementary education and/or related subject area
- International and/or independent school experience.
- Bilingual (or highly proficient) in another language (Spanish French English).
APPLICANTS SHOULD:
- Possess excellent teaching skills and pedagogy appropriate for young children
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of the application of interactive methodologies online teaching technology integration and other learning software applications and/or platforms.
- Be well versed in current research and best practices in teaching and learning.
- Be able to integrate varied activities that develop language motor and cognitive skills into the daily educational experience of students.
- Foster crosscultural understanding within the classroom and curriculum
- Be able to create a positive learning environment that is rich in structure developmentally appropriate and academically rigorous.
- Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to childhood social emotional and intellectual development within an international school setting.
THE ROLE: A teacher at The Awty International School is expected to meet the following expectations:
- Homeroom Teacher: Effectively teach multiple subjects (math reading writing science and social studies) in the target language (listed above) including the undertaking of appropriate lesson preparation and assessing and evaluating students.
- L2 Language Teacher: Effectively teach language arts in the target language (English Spanish or French) including the undertaking of appropriate lesson preparation and assessing and evaluating students.
- Collaborating with other teachers on the team in unit lesson and event planning.
- Attending and positively contributing to grade faculty division and allschool meetings as necessary.
- Performing snack lunch recess and other supervision duties as required.
- Contributing to the wider life of the school in areas such as special projects and presentations field trips and service learning activities as well as attending curriculum nights open houses prospective parent meetings and other school and parent events.
