Job Description

Position Summary

Ryan Specialtys Tax Department is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to assist in the quarterly and yearly tax provision compliance process and other special tax projects. This position will report to the VP of Tax and will assist with provision compliance and other tax matters. We are looking for someone who has significant experience with the federal and state taxation of partnerships and a working understanding of ASC 740 and corporate taxation. You will collaborate with our team of tax professionals in addition to our teammates in Controllership Treasury Payroll Financial Planning & Analysis Legal and more. Our ideal candidate is someone with a desire to contribute to the Tax Department to learn and to work with technology.

What will your job entail

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare complex partnership and corporate tax computations that support SEC filings.
  • Prepare the quarterly current and deferred income tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Prepare and maintain the deferred tax rollforwards and tax account rollforwards and reconciliations.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda and documenting various complex tax issues to determine appropriate tax treatment and related income tax reporting.
  • Maintain processes and procedures for SOX compliance including documentation of tax controls.
  • Gather information and prepare workpapers for U.S. federal and state income tax returns prepared by our external advisors.
  • Provide support in assessing the tax impact of transactions including mergers acquisitions reorganizations financing and business initiatives.
  • Communicate with federal or state tax authorities regarding applicable tax matters.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Accounting or a related field or equivalent business experience; CPA preferred
  • Experience with the federal and state taxation of partnerships and corporations
  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 and corporate taxation
  • Minimum 35 years of tax experience with public accounting firm and/or large corporate tax department
  • Proficiency with GoSystem and/or Onesource tax compliance software
  • Solid understanding of tax process systems and software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with advanced working knowledge of Excel
  • Effective communication skills to interact with tax and nontax personnel
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work efficiently independently as well as part of a team.

The target salary range for this position is $88000.00 $110000.00 annually.

The wage range for this role considers many factors such as training transferable skills work experience licensure and certification business needs and market demands.
