Located within the Office of Teaching and Learning the Department of Student Voice & Engagement (DSVE) leads the districts inclusive and responsive education strategy that aims to ensure all aspects of schooling in CPS are inclusive of and responsive to the lived experiences of students and includes young people as key stakeholders in making decisions that impact them.
The District Student Voice Committee (DSVC) represents a student leadership team dedicated to elevating student voice across Chicago Public Schools through participation in district student voice roundtables and planning and leading student convenings that support and empower students in their schools Student Voice Committee. The DSVC ultimately works with students teachers administrators and central office staff to help build inclusive partnerships between youth and adults ensuring that students needs and perspectives impact their school and District priorities decisions and direction.
Job Summary:Reporting to the Director Department of Student Voice & Engagement the District Student Voice Committee (SVC) representative will support the DSVC in developing and enhancing their student leadership skills with the goal of advancing and strengthening student voices in their schools and the district. The DSVC will lead by participating in and organizing student voice events throughout the school year where they will serve as models and guides.
The DSVC representative will report to the Student Voice & Leadership Specialist and Student Voice Support Role within the Department of Student Voice & Engagement. The DSVC will meet biweekly for afterschool programming and participate in additional student voice events throughout the year. This student employee position will be compensated for time worked on an hourly basis. Programming will start in September and end in May annually.

In order to qualify for this student worker position candidates must be actively enrolled as CPS students attending their freshman sophomore junior or senior high school during theschool year. A valid work permit will be required for students under the age of 16.
