POSITION PURPOSE:
The PreDoctoral Intern is a member of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team which includes therapists (psychologists social workers and marriage/family therapists) doctoral trainees MFT trainees clinical case management and psychiatry. The CAPS team is committed to the values of multiculturalism and social justice and is dedicated to providing mental health services that are open to and accepting of every student we serve. Together this team contributes to student success by delivering integrated mental healthcare to SCU students utilizing the services of the Cowell Center. The intern provides the highest quality of mental health services while supporting the vision of the University to make student learning a central goal by facilitating the psychological wellbeing of the student body.
A successful candidate will be able to showcase a history of working across diverse identities (including but not limited to race gender sexuality and ability status) and demonstrate their commitment to inclusivity. A successful candidate will model a deep commitment to cultural humility and equity; and will demonstrate knowledge understanding and application of the concept in evidence based short term therapy model.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Care: Clinical activities are structured in a sequential graded and cumulative format to enhance learning opportunities for interns. All clinical work is under the direct supervision of licensed psychologists namely the interns clinical supervisors and doctoral training director.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate and appropriately consult with psychiatric providers registered dieticians and Student Health Services to provide care to students who need medical management of emotional problems. Provide advice consultation and support in the development implementation and evaluation of department wide policy. Maintain membership in Professional Organizations as deemed appropriate. Remain knowledgeable of best practices in the field of counseling and university counseling centers while staying abreast of the latest trends in the discipline of counseling. Perform other workrelated assignments as assigned and/or required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Candidate must have applied to SCU CAPS Predoctoral Internship Program through the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) recruitment process and successfully matched at this site via the National Matching Service (NMS). Advanced doctoral graduate student from a counseling or clinical psychology program accredited by the American Psychological Association. Preference will be given to applicants who have clinical experience in a university counseling Center. Preferred qualities: experience with brief therapy crisis intervention group therapy outreach and consultation.
