Must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of neonate infant early childhood late childhood adolescent young adult adult senior adult and geriatric patients. Must possess the ability to assess patient specific data relative to agespecific needs and provide appropriate care.
Licensure required ARRT Mass State License.
Advanced ARRT CT License preferred.
CPR certified.
I.V qualified
Conducts computer system warm up and calibration procedures according to operating procedures established by manufacturers guidelines in order to ensure effective calibrated and safe operation. Informs appropriate personnel when a problem in equipment exits. Calls Service engineers when repair is indicated.
Acknowledges requests for patient CT scan; speaks with nurse regarding patient to ensure the proper IV is placed and contrast given when needed.
Checks patient requisition form to determine study doctor has requested. Consults with Radiologist for detailed protocols per patient. Escorts patient to CT scanner; assists patient onto scanner; checks for proper IV placement positions patient for study explaining procedure answers questions and asks for cooperation. The technologist adjusts the radiographic technique to match each patients age disease and body habitus. Verifies patient identification using at least two forms of identification. Interviews each patient for pertinent allergy histories and obtains BUN and Creatinine results where indicated. Enters pertinent information relating to patient and scan specifics into computer directs specific operation of scan during procedure. Sets up necessary supplies/equipment for administration and delivery of I.V. solutions and contrast agents as per departmental policy. Performs quality CT scans for Radiologist review and interpretation.
These scans and subsequent radiographs must meet with standards set up by Radiology Division Heads. Gives proper breathing instructions to ensure optimal scan technique. Monitors patient condition during and immediately post scan; notify Radiology nurse and or radiologist when patients condition warrants attention. When necessary checks with Radiologist upon completion of scan to determine need for any further imaging; assists patient off scanner. Networks all images to the PACS archive and checks the web browser and relay station for successful transmission.
Shows professionalism toward both patients and their families as well as fellow employees at all times. Maintains patients dignity and upholds patients rights and confidentiality consistently.
